Hmmmm.  Source.

A little clarity for those who can't be bothered reading the Source. These figures are deaths per 100,000 males and per 100,000 females.

sounds like certain groups have more health problems than others. from what we know mortality rates are heavily skewed to age and preexisting conditions.

Overall a very enlightening article.

The ethnicity graphs are interesting especially as I believe they correlate with the figures that are coming out of the States where those of a darker skin colour appear to have a higher mortality rate.

It is like Mongolian spots on babies where on average ten percent occur in White infants, 50% in Hispanics and 90%-100% in Asians and Africans. When paediatric nursing in Sydney the majority I saw where from the middle east.

This should then keep those who study our genes going for a long time in trying to figure out why there is a higher death rate in dark vs light skin humans.

From the same Government Office: Coronavirus (COVID-19) related deaths by ethnic group, England and Wales: 2 March 2020 to 15 May 2020

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

This will work really well. Two of the worse-affected countries in Europe: "Coronavirus: Spain to allow UK tourists without quarantine"

Spain's foreign affairs minister has told the BBC that British citizens will be allowed to enter the country freely, without the need to self-isolate.

She said the decision had been made "out of respect" for the 400,000 Britons who have second homes in Spain.

But current rules state that anyone returning to - or entering - the UK still has to self-isolate for 14 days.

It is understood the UK's quarantine restrictions will be reviewed on 29 June.

Spain's foreign affairs minister Arancha González Laya said UK visitors will go through a "triple check" upon arrival to Spain.

They will be asked for their country of origin and to register "so we know we have a contact point to trace them", she said. They will also undergo a temperature check.

"We want to make sure that we welcome visitors, but we want to do this in safety and security for them, as well as for the Spaniards," she said.

Ms González Laya said discussions were continuing with the government about exempting Spanish visitors from the UK's current quarantine travel rules.

There was a hilarious quote by the (I think) Spanish Tourism Minister in a BBC report this morning.

Apparently the 400,000 Brits who own holiday homes in Spain are 'dying' to get back to them. Yes, she actually said that. Remember that the vast majority of that 400,000 will be in the at risk age category.

We should be careful of what conclusions were arrive at from statistics based on religion and ethnicity etc

For example there is research that shows if you speak Japanese you have less chance of getting Covid-19 and so on. Epidemiologists point out this is more likely to be due to the the social norms of different cultures than whether one language means you inhale more

This could well be the case with religions and perhaps ethnicity too

They kiss on alternate cheeks, breathe in each other's mouths, have sex, eat a meal of pasta, scream at passers-by, and then introduce themselves.

How hard is it for the MOH to actually release a daily update actually on time @ 1pm as promised?

How long have they been at it? And still can't be on time! (Or close)

Sheesh, the data is as at 9am! It's not like they are waiting for a pending update!

maybe there is some "interesting" news that the media will beat up on so they need to get the details straight before it's torn to shreds by opposition MPs?

In that case they should set a time of 11pm to release the 9am results?

The media and most people will be asleep.
