tdgeek:Its always been said there could be regional lockdowns, ring fencing, so todays announcement says literally nothing new. But its a bit more detail, and as PM said, many people think its near to over, not a big deal anymore, its a reminder its not over. Its understandable some may get blase now, IMHO

I'm ever hopeful, but also know otherwise given the way the media report it (want the good/bad and figures over actual spelled out written warnings) that the target market is reached.

Clued up people know how serious it is. And then there's the instagram population. Unfortunate majority.

I did like how she addressed all the App grilling that it shouldn't be 1 entity responsibility

(and goddamn Tova, off the rails again asking political questions in a covid standup..)

...

Hopefully this is just a precaution. And their not going to confirm a new case of community transmission later today. It would suck if one of the recent isolation escapees's has caused a new outbreak/cluster.

This was my first thought. Wait till 1pm when Dr Ashley says there has been a case of CT from the Countdown visitor.

you would wonder why they would wait to announce CT when time is of the essence to start tracking it.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

If any CT is confirmed for any of these people trying to jump out of isolation then charges should be brought up or increased.

No cases of community transmission today. Hopefully it stays that way.

Batman: What's our testing numbers like?

The MoH website says "2,61", so I'm guessing it's actually 2061 test yesterday - seven-day average is 2038

Well over 30,000 incoming passengers. None in the community, that's quite impressive

Exhibit A

Run a story with "How to help avoid future lockdowns"?

Don't be silly. Lets run with "Local lockdowns loom if fresh NZ Covid outbreak - PM"

What are people recommending for tracer apps here at GZ.  I use the government QR code one when I go into shops.  What other apps are worth adding?

jarledb:

MadEngineer: So much for the theory that the lockdown will reduce the spread of flu and Colds. If anything I reckon it’s just created a market of more potential hosts and infection rates have exploded.

Any source?

This is the last report from FluTracking:

The report ending on 5 July is still not available (listed, but the PDF says coming soon).

You can find the reports here

And now we have the results for the week ending 5 July. No explosion of flue and colds based on the report. Unless you are looking at the atypical basically 0 cases in May and the relative upswing since then and choosing not to compare year by year.

Its a concern if the testing rate is not enough to cover vulnerable groups.
Isolation Hotel Staff, Security, Cleaning etc, Airline and Airport Staff, Inwards Logistics Staff, Ports and Customs Biosecurity.
Repeatedly unfortunately. Melbourne is regretting poor coverage of ALL the staff around Hotels and interactions.
Then you have anyone , and secondary, tertiary.... contacts of escapees.
After all this you still need numbers of tests for community surveillance.

If the returnee testing is included in number it seems low ?

I have not seen a cost for Covid Test , but something that came up in radio interview was :
Tighter rules meant that if a doctor was suspicious and wanted to test someone outside the strict rules they would have to pay.
Once payment is mentioned patent loses interest. No number was mentioned for the test.

There are still weird things around super spreaders and longhaulers, and even this for a crew that were isolated for 35 days.
Maybe a passing of infection quietly from person to person over time till it gets to someone reporting symptoms on 35th day ? https://www.scmp.com/news/world/americas/article/3093102/57-sailors-argentina-get-coronavirus-after-weeks-sea-despite

Could be an extension of trade policy or they know something ?
We may never know for sure. Edit tidy up formatting

Aust PM Morrison arguing against eradication, stick with the plan of suppression. Stick together. Confidence in the processes. An MP is discussing this on Sky news afternoon report, he cant get a word in. Flatten the curve.

They are on the wrong track. NZ mentioned, small island, hasn't had 375000 arriving from overseas. Well we've has 1/10 of that go through MQI, add to that what came in before that, it must be similar per capita?
