 Have I missed anything?

I think that there's a reasonably high risk from returnees with "substance abuse problems" passing on C-19 when transacting supply for the drugs they'll do almost anything to get.

Easy for you to say when nobody is going to stick a knitting needle up your nose and into your brain every week.

OK, there's a certain degree of exaggeration there, but lots of people will be worried that it would be a bit (or a lot) like that.

I wish people would stop with this "degree of exaggeration". It's almost like a conspiracy theory. It's not like that.

No. it's not like that.

I had a nasal swab done yesterday (no result yet). It was moderately unpleasant for about 10 seconds.

Big This.... Its mildly uncomfortable, but its by no means painful.... and if it helps preventing the deaths of people's parents and grandparents, why would you not....

"I have some symptoms but will not go out to test because someone on the Internet said it's painful like a needle in your brain"

"Oh, that's sad. It is actually not that bad. But, just in case, who in your family you nominate to be the first to die?"

So, where did this latest cluster originate? Time to place your bets.....

Its the holes in our quarantining that everyone EXCEPT those in charge seems to know about (again)

mingling in quarantine
duty free not quarantined off properly (or closed)
allowing people out of quarantine early
allowing people out of quarenetine Without any tests . Yes, testing still optional for those in quarantine
allowing the the public into quarantine facilites to drop of packages to friends and family . Yes that actually happens
In fact , forcing the public to go INTO a quarantine facility to drop off a package as the guards wouldnt accept packages at the gates

These are all things I know about . yet those in charge dont know.

Putting the Army in charge , Huge mistake.
The army has a culture of do what you are told, never question or complain. So any issues simply wont be adressed or bought up.
Thats not they way to find holes in the systems

The 'be kind' way of doing this was never going to work either . Being locked in the room for 2 weeks was too unkind .

Bullcrap and bullcrap.

1. The Army are not in charge - every MIF is MoH lead.
2. Have you served? Obviously not, with an opinion like that. You're so far from the truth that it'd be laughable, if it wasn't such an affront to those who are serving.

The ministry of health need to figure out who keeps leaking info to the media. The north shore case leaking to the media was a complete screw up and shouldn't have happened all it does is cause panic.

Is this the case(s) related to Glamorgan school/Noel Leeming? If so it's because in these situations notification was given to close and casual contacts, which in a school is a large number.

Edit: To clarify, the school emailed parents/students to advise, and in the case of Noel Leeming obviously they have an obligation to the team members who were working.

Err..

It likely comes from the parents of school posting on social media after they have been notified of the case at the school ... Its not from within the MoH

"All the nearly 600 families and staff at Glamorgan School in Torbay have been ordered to stay in self-isolation - and vigilantly watch for signs of sickness."

I see this morning Chris Hipkins has been on RNZ.

Radio NZ:

He says they were slow to bring in mandatory testing for frontline staff, but with good reason. He says it's a high bar to set. Hipkins says everybody working on the border will have been tested by the weekend. "Moving to mandatory testing is relatively heavy handed thing for a government to do," Hipkins says.

Hmmm. So compulsory testing of frontline staff who are at risk is “heavy handed”. Where does locking down a city of 1.8 million people rank then?

again by law you cant make people take an invasive medical test, but if they refuse they have to do another 14 days before allowed out. The Govt explained all this.
