As of today, 27th Aug, the Covid App has stopped storing both scans and manual entries !

App updated yesterday to version 1.2.1 on an Apple Xr phone running iOS 13.6.

Anyone else had problems ?  Submitted the issue to help@ civ... email address.  Await response.

I’m sure if you force closed the app it would have probably fixed it too.

I have been scanning everywhere I go, but it seems that no one else does.

I stood waiting for fish and chips last night, approx 20 people came in during the time I was waiting. No one scanned ...

It must be the place. I've visited supermarkets, malls, restaurants and cafes in the last week or so and I'd say 80% of the people did their bit.

Oh dear, reports on Stuff that MoH have ditched Morgan's Bluetooth card and are developing their own Bluetooth app.

It took how many months and how many multiple updates before their current simple app FINALLY worked ok?!

I'm picking debacle on the horizon, which is a real pity given how crucial effective contract tracing is.

Hope I'm wrong on this.

I posted the 'next update' changes a bit back. (its on their site)

Editing manual entries to be added, and possibly optional BT integration.

More they're looking at adding functionality now the uptake Is where they wanted I suspect

https://www.health.govt.nz/our-work/diseases-and-conditions/covid-19-novel-coronavirus/covid-19-novel-coronavirus-resources-and-tools/nz-covid-tracer-app/how-nz-covid-tracer-works

Like all mobile apps, NZ COVID Tracer will be updated as new features are developed.

New features under consideration include:

  • Bluetooth functionality
  • the ability to edit or add notes to the entries in your digital diary
  • support for phones running Android 5 and iOS10
  • support for languages other than English

But it's been made pretty clear, BT nukes battery, and doesn't give positive outcome. So most likely be opt-in or for use in tight settings

There also appears to have been a change of heart July - an EOI for other guys (like Rippl) to work with them

I think many folks on here don't understand that only government approved agencies will be able to release apps onto the Apple App Store that use the COVID19 Bluetooth APIs. So that means Rippl or anyone else don't have even the remotest possibility of leveraging the standard APIs.

Still unconvinced by Bluetooth will even remotely come near to the panacea that Sam Morgan and other folks are touting.

The order of importance IMHO with the features in the App

1) Getting correct contact details including current mobile number for the people to map it to their NHI. As at the beginning MoH only had ~70% of NZers contact details.

2) See #1

3) See #1 & #2

4) Having a diary to record the places you have been in a quick and easy way that is secure and maintains your privacy that doesn't track you, require internet access.

5) Having a manual diary if the location doesn't have a QR to achieve #4.

6) Ability to receive push updates from MoH

TBC Features

7) Flashlight switch so you can scan if it is dark (coming soon I believe)

8) Better accessibility for sight or hearing impaired folks. (An area I think still needs work)

9) Basically any other more useful feature

10+) Bluetooth P2P support using the iOS/Google APIs with the ability to turn it off in app so that doesn't nuke your battery.

But that is just my 2 cents worth.

That's pretty much what mr Hipkins said was happening yesterday

They're also adding ability to display your nhi number for easy test access

Those were the most basic immediate signed off changes he knew of. Said they are adding in near bi monthly major updates with fixes between

Don't assume that because they don't scan in they have not added a manual entry. If I go to a place and can't wait for the queue at the QR code poster I simply go in and add a manual entry.

And I always tell people off, especially if they are on their phone. "Come on mate, it's not that f..king hard to scan a QR code, just do it already."

This today from the ministry of health website.

The NZ COVID Tracer app has reached a significant milestone today, recording over two million registered users, which is equivalent to half the population aged 15 and over.

There have also been an average of more than 1.7 million scans per day over the last week.

That doesn't sound right. Only 1.7 million scans a day, for 2 million people using it? Sounds like a lot of people have downloaded it but not using it. Or is there a problem with their data?
