This is a “medical” issue rather than anxiety. It’s more than just headaches, her vision is impacted pretty badly at time.

I am really sorry to hear your family is going through that. I hope they find a cause which isn't serious and has a unobtrusive resolution. It's sucky as a kid, but its a thankless and tough job being a parent in those situations as well. It isn't until you are a parent you have appreciation for what your parents went through. As trite as it may seem I am a believer in one door closes another door opens even if it's not the door you might have wanted philosophy. Unfortunately it can be tough waiting for the reasons to become apparent.

Thanks I appreciate it. We’re just going through the dog days.

It’ll be alright in the end. If it’s not alright it’s not the end.

Migraine attacks can affect vision. I have suffered migraines since I was 6 and my grandson has since around that age. Thankfully I haven't had a migraine since I had Covid this time last year. I used to three or four attacks a week. I get blind spots

and aura. I also had Retinal migraine attacks as a kid.

Sure. This is why I described it as migraine like symptoms. That’s the current diagnosis but we have a follow up with the paediatric neurologist next week.

Good luck with that appointment. I don't really know what else to say except I hope it isn't too serious and things work out okay. I wish you the very best.

That's more than enough to say. I do appreciate it.

Having attacks of: (Probably - Not officially confirmed yet!)

Trigeminal neuralgia is a sudden, severe facial pain, described as sharp, shooting or like an electric shock.
It usually occurs in sudden short attacks lasting from a few seconds to about two minutes, which stop just as abruptly.
In the vast majority of cases it affects part or all of one side of the face, with the pain most commonly felt in the lower part of the face.
Very occasionally it affects both sides of the face, but not normally at the same time.
People with the condition may experience attacks of pain regularly for days, weeks or months at a time.
In severe cases, attacks may occur hundreds of times a day.

Feels like 100 electrified needles injected into you face just below the eye! Pain is a 12/10.

Vision not affected apart from the tears from the pain!

Episodes so far range from 1 "shock" to 30minutes (Probably several close together episodes) of continual excruciating pain!

Current episode is 30 minutes and counting!

(Research shows no simple answer and that pain killers don't work! - Not that I can take any being on high dose blood thinners!)

Edited to add: Now 30 minutes and still counting! This does wonders for your mental health - NOT!

Jesus that sounds terrible! I never heard of it before now. Is there nothing at all to do?

Not really without consequences! (Which may be worse than the problem! And involve surgery to effectively cut the nerve and the resultant problems!)

I am so sorry. Pain can a horrible impact on mental health. If it's likely temporary are there things you can do when you aren't having an attack to treat yourself to help balance out the negative impacts? Some extra treats etc?

Is there any link to stress or other causes you can try and reduce?

I have no idea but does heat or cool have any effect that could provide a little relief?

Eating may set it off, or not!

A breeze may set it off, or not!

Washing or touching your face may set it off, or not!

Doing nothing, just sitting may set it off, or not!

Sleeping, may occur, or not!

Totally random!

That sounds horrid for you. I’ve had nerve pain for a short period and the pain can’t be silenced by painkillers. One thing I’ve found is that the more one thinks about any condition the worse it becomes especially if it frightens you. As the saying goes...Think horses not Zebras. Distraction can work wonders in toning down symptoms and really deep breathing which is often underestimated.

My doctor prescribed capsaicin cream which is a topical chili pepper cream that is hot and confuses the nerves. Also by my own choice took a magnesium glycinate supplement for a short time.

Google magnesium for nerve pain, there are a few research papers on the subject.

Houses unconditional, contract for new role expected today, finishing date already agreed by current employer, etc.

Have managed to also snag the mortgage top-up we need at a good rate so gives us the chance to plan around next couple of years.

Now I have to slim down my garage (so long Mini Cooper S, thanks for all the fun) and figure out what we can get rid of before we move.

What a great result to have from where you were just a few weeks ago. Congrats.

Get someone to help with your moving and packing, even if it costs something, it's a wildly stressful job and with a toddler in the house, made that much more difficult.

A few years ago we used a company called the finishing touch. I still maintain it was the best money we spent bar none that year. They packed the house, moved and unpacked, made the beds, cleaned both houses. It was more or less like we never lived in the new place.
