I have seen both sides with 2 sons who had no symptoms and one who never caught it and myself who had a runny nose for a day and was fine the next day to my wife who was in hospital for 2 days. So to many people Covid is way overrated and not worth getting worried about and they will carry on living life the way they want to.

Many humans are extremely bad at judging long term risk and only care about the short term.

The reinfection rate is 30% now, some people are on their 3rd/4th time, after they've had it another 10x in the next 4-5 years it's going to be very interesting what the cumulative damage is.

We probably need to be thinking about some kind of insurance scheme to treat all the inevitable long term issues.

We actually need the Government to acknowledge that Long Covid exists. That would be a good start.

What benefit would that give? Covid is not new, nor is the various news about its effects.

So, Christmas do at the rellies. One of them have Covid last week, past the 7 days but still tested positive on Christmas day. The real what the beep was they'd been to another do when they'd first tested positive with a faint line and the other people told him to come along anyway, because "Covid's everywhere". FFS

I thought post infection testing was pointless. Once a week has passed and symptoms end you are good to go, regardless of tests which can still be positive after ceasing to be infectious.

No, if you test positive on a RAT it's likely/possible (some studies said 50/50) you're still infectious.

Up to a third? of people were infectious on day ten and some low percentage out to day 14.

maybe so but government/official advice is 7 days from first symptoms or a positive RAT/other test. after that there is no need to test again and you can go about your life as long as you are symptom free and have done your 7 days.

"Some people can still be infectious after 7 days. If you are still sick at the end of your self-isolation period, stay home until you are well and for 24 hours after you no longer have symptoms."

Not vaxxed, no mask.

My workmates in the office got it but I didn't. And I tested to be sure.

I got flu like symptoms on a separate occasion which sucked cos I don't normally get the flu but tests came up negative. It hit me straight after a particularly stressful day. I am pretty sure there was a connection there.

How it will play out is they will put them on the sickness benefit renewed every 3 months. After a long time (I'm talking years) they may push out the renewal period.

My brother is still testing positive 12 days after his first positive RAT test. He's a doctor, so he can't see any patients (or anyone else) until he's clear.
