Maybe an Auckland thing?

Down here in the last couple of weeks I've seen mask wearing stopping by a noticeable portion of people even in shops and little effort at scanning.

Same here. Was in the corner dairy a couple of days ago, - way more people in there than should have been. People waltzing in and out without masks and not scanning. A friend had an optometrist appointment and a guy went in without a mask and didn't scan. Was asked if he'd scanned in and said "oh, we don't have to anymore".

I don't (Blenheim/Nelson/Welly) see many people scanning anymore.  At  phase three there are no close contacts outside the home/household like environment.   The locations of interest system seems to have fallen over.  With RAT the go to test now, false positives enter the mix as well.  I can see why motivation to scan has fallen off a cliff.   I still am, but find myself forgetting to.

Don't really see any issues with false positives, they err on the safer side for the community and with RATs becoming more available the odd one will be weeded out.

What does concern me are false negatives where the recipient takes that single result with a "phew, must just be a cold" and carries on spreading.

Wait till you go positive and need to list all your recent places and people to warn them as part of the form...

That was the idea behind keeping it up. And it's being used more than people think

But the less people consider that. The more they're likely not making people they come in contact with consider it's more than a sniffle while seeing others... And it goes on.

I just did my shopping on-line at Countdown. I have to say I am very impressed at how smoothly everything works. The site is very well-constructed and easy to navigate. When so many businesses here seem to get this kind of thing so wrong, they deserve full praise for getting it so right.

And if over 70, you get into a priority queue and get first dibs at slots for click and collect.

The Countdown delivery is a brilliant facility. We've been using it ever since January 2019, when it first became available in the lower South Island. The delivery guys and girls (masked, of course) are friendly, helpful and polite. Now we've returned to a contact-less situation, we just watch and wave through the window while they place the brown paper bags on the porch. After the truck has gone, I mask up and bring the bags inside, then swab most of the packages with a meths-soaked wipe. Quick, easy and economical. Prior to the delivery service, we'd drive to Invercargill for our groceries, at a gas cost of around $20.

I had two negative RAT results before testing positive on the third day when the main symptoms suddenly arrived.

The bigger concern is really the 2-3 days before I was symptomatic when I had no idea I was infected and capable of transmitting it.

The issue is you'll be stuck at home needlessly.  If you test positive but don't have COVID.  But that's not as much of an issue with the definition of close contact collapsing to household members. (or similar contacts).

Won't be a problem for me, I'm still tracing.  And if I forget something, then I add it in manually later.  And if I forget that I forgot, it's in my bank record and/or I can compare to my partners records or my daughters or ....

I'm not using the BT function of the app, because it causes my phone to drop other BT connections frequently, which is irritating for someone who drives a lot.  Got a new work phone today, so I'll try again with that.

Interested to know where you find that screen you posted a shot of in the tracer app?

Sorry. Broad 'you'. As a lot of people aren't considering the new process required of us to lodge results.

Just adding to the anecdotal data.   Mrs Duck tested positive today (Tues), but despite clearly being ill (cough, fever) for days prior her earlier RATS all returned negative.

After planning for weeks to visit Wellington mid-March to catch up with Geekzone friends (including some of the Mod team) for a Whisky or four, I've just made the difficult decision not to go. Elderly parents with lung issues, and increased risks and expenses haven't helped.

Tested positive on Sunday. Wife tested positive today. Our symptoms are not severe, maybe because we had the booster vax in January.

The best part is people checking we’re OK and dropping off food.

I got a Txt from my Medical Centre that I am due for my annual blood tests. Told to make an appointment at the blood lab.

I phoned the Medical Centre and asked "Can I pay to have the blood taken when I am in for my regular INR test, like I have done for the last 8 years?" answer was "NO - We are limiting the people in here due to Covid" I said "I'm there anyway, and it limits my exposure from another venue!" The answer was still NO!

Well if that is the case I'm not bothering!

I tested positive today, so that's the entire household now.  With a son at primary school we were expecting to be one of the first.

Interestingly I have definitely been sick for 2-3 days but the RATs to date were negative.  A friend posted a link that said swab your gullet as well as your nose, omicron likes the upper respiratory area and tonsils.  So this morn I did throat and nose and BINGO (nose only last night negative).   Could be coincidence, but the link had lots of "me too" in it so maybe its something to consider if you are doing a RAT.

Question: our first positive test was Sunday, then Tues, then Weds (today), and that's the entire house now.   Does the Sunday person need to isolate for 10 days from Weds, or just 10 days from Sunday?  I'm being thick when I look at the rules.

Today marks 1 year since I had my first (of three) Covid vaccination. I still have the same number of heads and fingers. I can’t pick up 5G without a phone and cutlery doesn’t stick to me.

While our household is clear of the ‘Cron at the moment (touch wood), I’ve got to ask, in the event of a household case how is it I can still go to work after a negative RAT, but I can’t go to the supermarket?
