Last day of quarantine for our household.

Our eldest son is the only one who has tested positive, despite there being a number of symptoms felt by myself and my wife. Could be seasonal cold. Could be seasonal allergies. Could be false negative RATs. Don't know.

We'll do one last test this evening and we're all allowed back into the wild.

Basically identical in our household - eldest son has been the only one to test positive; us other three had periods of feeling cr@p over the following week. All those same possibilities as to the cause of this crossed our minds, plus simply being hyper-vigilant for symptoms. We held back rejoining civilisation by one more day to be sure, but both kids are back at school as of today.

MadEngineer: The lad tested positive an hour after I started work this morning so I’ve gone back home. He had mentioned feeling warm yesterday but that didn’t raise any alarm bells. He’s otherwise mostly fine.

Couldn’t submit his result through the app and when I rang the 0800 number to do so they suggested lots of other people have been experiencing the same. Fortunately there wasn’t any wait on the call.

Hopefully I’ve not taken it to work! I feel fine today but had a slight headache yesterday … side from maybe my cheeks and now the back of my neck feeling a bit warm …

Finally, finally, finally I was OK'd to get my booster and got it yesterday. 3 Primary and a Booster I have onboard now.

Other than a Sore arm, I have been OK so far, but we are only 14 hours in and the 3rd primary really wiped the floor with me for 24 hours after about 24 hours so I am hoping I get away without it this time.

The booster following 3 primary doses for the immunocompromised has been around for some time. What has yet to be approved and what is currently being considered is a second booster for border workers etc and over 65's who have had the 2 primary doses and one booster.

Tested positive today. I'm fully vacicnated (2+booster).

Had a scratchy throat since Thursday/ Friday last week which I attributed to post nasal drip - tested negative at that point.

I wonder what percentage of the population have had it.

I can only think of one person in NZ that I know IRL who has. I think 6 or so in the UK.

Of my immediate family: in NZ, three out of nine; in the Ozzie branch, two out of thirteen; and amongst my French family, three out of seven. Everyone is double vaxed and boosted, by the way

Two weeks ago so many people around us had already had it, I was wondering how it was we had escaped it ... you can guess what happened next.

Wife works at the local school, so we believe she picked it up from there likely from one of the kids. She then passed it onto myself and youngest son (Mr 6). Whereas both myself and my wife were super tired and needed lots of rest for a couple of days, with Mr 6 you'd barely know he has it, apart from a bit of extra sneezing he is still charging around at 110%.

Meanwhile somehow it has escaped Mr 8, who after 7 days isolation is back at school today. Either he got lucky or we suspect he has had it at a low level before - both kids sneeze quite a lot in the morning anyway due to allergies, so knowing that for Mr 6 the only real sign is sneezing, there is a chance we've missed it in Mr 8 if he caught it previously.

Both kids had their 2nd doses 2 weeks before wife got infected, so that may have helped too.

Not sure if many if you have tried the elarm app which is supposed to detect the first signs of infection? Appears to have worked for me, although oddly not for my wife.

It shows that from about 4pm on the day my wife first woke up with a slightly sore throat (a Saturday), my body was going into battle against something, and carried on doing so until the Monday afternoon (it reports as "normal" again once the early signs are passed).

Wife only finally tested positive on the Monday afternoon (by which point she was reasonably unwell). Although I felt not quite right from about Monday afternoon onwards, I only finally tested positive on the Thursday night (a weak positive at the time, a strong positive the next morning). Mr 6 then tested positive on the Friday night.

Anyway, point being that by the time wife had first symptom appear, it appears it had already spread and was starting to go to work on myself and likely Mr 6.

All mostly recovered now, although Mr 6 now gets a super long holiday, as his isolation period doesn't end until Good Friday.
