My PCR came back as negative this morning. Easily the fastest turn around we have experienced. Much better than the 8 days from last time!

Good to hear. The speedy result is probably a function of lower number of tests being done.

Yeah I had one on Friday afternoon and result was sent Saturday, was negative. Was my first ever PCR test as well, wasn't as bad as I expected.
Worst cold I've had in awhile though, at the tail end of it now but had to take a week off work. Still haven't had Covid, long may that continue 😂
Eva888: Maybe my grey hair puts me in the 'vulnerable' category and nobody hassles me. I only wear on public transport or if it feels overcrowded but that’s not often.
Not having contracted Covid yet I wear a mask on the bus all the time and I am not alone. But colleagues at work tell me that helps people around me more (if I were infectious) than protecting me, unless I wore a full surgical mask. I just wear a normal mask or occasionally a N95 if I have one available

Wearing a mask now comes with different types of judgement it seems. I was hassled in the AIRNZ lounge and waiting for luggage. 'Why are you still wearing a mask, don't you know you don't need to anymore?"
Interesting. About to fly internationally for the first time in over 2.5 years and received this from Qantas yesterday:
"Hi xx,
At Qantas, your safety remains our highest priority.
From contactless check-in, self-service Bag Drop and boarding, to face masks and hand sanitising stations, we've introduced a range of health and wellbeing measures so you can travel with confidence on your upcoming flight.
...
You'll need to wear a face mask as soon as you enter the airport and also inflight."
After 2.5 years of outrunning this thing, I've finally got it. Would have totally missed 'symptoms' yesterday as I was just tired from keeping an eye on the baby all night, and then did a RAT when I got home merely at the suggestion of my partner. Two positives.
I literally just had exhaustion and a bit of pain in my skull when I cleared my throat - I don't even have a cough, bizarrely. So it turns out literally anything can be a Covid symptom. I just thought I was tired.
Good thing is my baby and partner don't have it and I'll be living in our enclosed deck and working in an office shut away from everyone else for the next week, but this wipes out birthday AND a long weekend so I'm pretty filthy about that.
OK this must be day 3/4 and I'm progressing to 'headcold' and still not much else.
Naturally as soon as I can't be in the office for the first time since L4 a whole bunch of shit happens that didn't need to if I'd been able to be there. Because of course it does.
Last night I slept in the enclosed part of our deck (trying to minimise circulating particles in the rest of the house) and a squall blew over with hail and it was like trying to sleep inside a Lancaster bomber (I assume).
All things considered I'm quite well rested but it's pretty demoralising having to stand back while my partner has to do all the legwork with baby, food etc.
Household contacts dont have to isolate. while its polite to discuss with the person you are having meetings with and come to a mutual agreement over weather the meeting goes ahead, having a house hold contact does not automatically mean the meeting is off.
We had a guy in the office who's wife got covid, he let the boss know and asked if we were happy for him to be in the office with us. we did have any issue with that.
"Household Contacts do not need to isolate.
If you are a Household Contact, you should test daily for 5 days with a rapid antigen test (RAT) from the day the person with COVID-19 tested positive."

That appears to be incorrect. Masks only required on QF flights only if the destination jurisdiction mandates it. From https://www.qantas.com/nz/en/coronavirus/health-while-flying.html
"Certain destinations require you to wear a mask during your flight or at the airport. Ensure you check the latest government requirements before you travel."
...
"You're no longer required to wear a mask on Australian domestic flights. We'll continue to make masks available onboard and appreciate some customers may wish to wear them. "

I'm aware of that, it was a mutual decision to cancel. The guy last week tested positive the following day.

Yes. Having now returned from the trip (to Japan - work) I can confirm that the info in the email proved to be incorrect. Situation is as you outline.
The AKL - SYD leg was almost fully back to pre-pandemic situation, from airport entry, security clearance and lounge to the flight (apart from one or two others and I prefering to wear masks). Felt very deja vu. Despite Qantas statements otherwise, food in the Auckland First lounge was self-serve buffet (though not in Sydney, nor in the JAL Haneda lounge). Almost everyone boarding the SYD - HND flight was wearing a mask but that lasted no more than about 15 mins. To be fair though, even I gave up wearing mine while sleeping (an overnight flight). Tried sleeping with mask on but only lasted about 15 mins - more concerned about air quality x sleep apnea risk than covid but it helped greatly being in business class where the nearest people were around a meter away (one in front, one behind). Nearest to the side was closer to 2 m away. Similar situation on return. No, didn't catch covid on any of the four flights! Nor in 2 weeks in Tokyo, which included a few trips on crowded subway trains (almost everyone wearing a mask), shinkansen trips to & from Kyoto (only ~50% seats occupied), and a number of meals in restaurants/cafes.
Got to end of isolation for myself and my partner who ended up getting it. A week of work for both of us, leave juiced.
Toddler tested positive yesterday.
This is just relentless. Job security severly undermined, lots of stress, no more leave for the next however long.
Really mad that this is the default expectation after years of finger-wagging about how we can't just 'let it rip'. We've just decentralised the problem away from government and are making households carry the burden. Again.
