I much prefer the Bach brewing all day IPA over the Tiny

https://www.newworld.co.nz/shop/product/5295291_ea_000nw?name=all-day-non-alcoholic-ipa

or the Bare beer by sawmill

https://www.finewinedelivery.co.nz/beer/ale/ale/sawmill-bare-beer-non-alcoholic-6-pack-330ml-bottle-35867

Found the Bare Beer a bit bland as I'm more of a pale ale or ipa drinker.

Bach All Day and Garage Tiny are both excellent.

I found the Tiny lacking in something.  Almost watery?

True, but I don't like those. I do like the taste of a nice beer or something stronger from time to time.

I also enjoy the slightly happy effect 3 beers can give you.

After extensive searching, I think these are the two best very low alcohol beers on the market. I like the idea of an almost alcohol free beer, because I like beer and I don't always want to drink alcohol, for various reasons.

Sadly I don't really like all Day or Tiny.  To my palate they have a distinct soda-water component to their flavour profile.  Almost like a slightly beer-like hard seltzer.  I typically drink IPA or darker beers, so I'm perhaps not the best consumer for these products.  Most of the low alcohol beers seem to be at the lighter end of the beer spectrum and often very citrussy.  I think the latter is an attempt to disguise the lack of malty flavour.

I sent a can of low alcohol beer to a lab once.  The report they sent back said my horse will never race again.

@mikeaqua have you tried the Bavaria 0% IPA? I found it not that bad and under $10 for a 6 pack it was worth a nudge. Definitely tasted hoppier than Tiny and All Day although thinner in mouthfeel if I remember correctly.

Shows you that taste really is in the eye of the be(er)holder, as that Bavaria IPA is the very one I commented on on the previous page as finding gross and haven’t been willing to drink the rest of the pack!

For sure. Everyone has their own tastes and there's nothing wrong with that. Hmmm I seem to recall I was on a dry July type dry spell when I tried them so perhaps that had something to do with positive vibes I have from it. Could definitely drink all of them though. I wonder how old yours were? The taste could have been 'skunked' by age or poor handling of the beers themselves.

Could well be the case, but not too keen on buying another six-pack only to find it wasn’t…

That said, I’m sure the additional 18 months of ‘maturing’ of these leftover bottles in cupboard hasn’t helped their quality since!

Supermarkets are (as a general rule) not that great when it comes to correct storage and transport of beers. I always check the use by date on beers if I'm unsure how long they've been there, especially lagers and lighter coloured beers. Pak n Save Palmy tends to be my go to place as I know they are really good with taking care of stock - plus the range is outstanding.

I haven't seen that one.  I'll keep an eye out for it.  The thinner mouthfeel is what I have objected to in the one I've tried.  Kind of like the bass guitar isn't plugged in at a rock concert.

Tiny is currently my go-to. Yes it is a little different to "real" beer, but I quite like it.

Will try the others too and let you know what I think.

It's interesting that the emergence of the craft brewing sector in ZN has really opened up the opportunity for low alcohol beer.

Zero alcohol beer shave been around for decades, but ultra niche.  I remember clausthaler from the 1990s.  Truly awful.

I would never have tried the zero alcohol offering by DB or Heineken (because I don't like their regular beers).

However, when people who know how to make decent beer, make a low alcohol beer I take notice.  I have to say they aren't there yet.  But someone will surely soon be able to make a low alcohol beer that doesn't taste like low alcohol beer.

Bare beer by Sawmill - I like the taste but nothing lingers. Once finished it's like I have just had a glass of water. Still, will buy again.
