stocksp:

I've had bowel cancer about 10 years ago.  It was advanced, about the size of an orange, but luckily had not spread.   I now have colonoscopies every 3-4 years.  The procedure itself is fine, the prep is less pleasant - but very cleansing !  I find them really reassuring.

I subsequently found out that my estranged father died of bowel cancer, and my half brother also had it.  My gift to my kids is that they will need regular colonoscopies from about 30 :)

Pretty much what we just went through. My mum's cancer was huge they showed it to us afterwards.

No signs of spread but of course we will need to closely monitor it.

I'm glad you are still cancer free and hoping you stay so too!

Mine are paid by Southern Cross.

Have had polyps removed before but was all clear on last one a few weeks ago.

Quite like the orange taste of the Picoprep so no problems drinking it. Wash it down with a large glass of water. Have it at 3pm and 8pm from memory for an early morning appointment.

Surgeon gives me a chart that shows how much to drink and at what times to keep hydrated. I drink large glasses of clear apple juice and the odd cup of black tea.

The instructions also advise to apply Vaseline to your bottom.
