I went away a couple months ago and bought a cheap BIC set with five disposable two blades razors. Since I had five, well let's use. I thought as some said that your skin would adapt after a little bit, but no. Terrible things.

When the last one was used up, went back to Gillette Mach and the first shave was like going back in time. Smooth skin, no cuts or irritation, blades flying over the skin, very quick shave.

So, yes, pay a bit more but as they say you get what you pay for.

I might have posted this before somewhere, so apologies if I have.

My shaving routine consists of:-
Wash face with hot water and face wash stuff, wipe with hot flannel, this softens the hair.
Apply moisturising shave foam (I don't like gel)
Wash blade under hot tap, and shave, use weight of razor, don't push or will cause rash.
Wash out razor from behind after each stroke or two.
When finished wash face again to remove any soap.

A razor that is becoming dull will also cause a rash as it pulls on the hairs. So, worth replacing.

That said, I only shave once a week, so my blades usually last a while.

Even with best razers I have come across when I don't shave for more than 4 days, I get painful "pulling".

Interesting, because I feel the best cycle for me is to shave every third day, because shorter facial hair causes problems. Everyone is different...

I use a straight razor. It is a pain when travelling (has to be checked) but shaving is a lot easier than with disposables.

I am reborn

Always used electric. Great, well, while its new. Took the plunge and bought Gillette Fusion, googled how to shave (yes, laugh if u will). My concern was extra time and fuss. Well its great, been a month maybe, maybe bit more. shave twice a week. Love it. Dunno how to tell when the blades need changing, all is same now as it was on day one, shave, cut wise. Got the odd nick early on. I guess when it hurts its time to change blade???

I wish I could shave every 3 days that would be awesome, but my wife and kids don't like "pickles" (As said by my 3 year old). He asked me the other day why I didn't shave my eye pickles, which made me laugh.

going to go the safety razor + brush route next week.

schick 5 blade is the most comfortable so far, anything fusion and higher from gillette is horrible on my face - pulls the hairs even with new blades.
