Anyone got any suggestions before i go back to the Hyundai Dealer about it

New Vehicle, Santa Fe, has a removable/screw antenna on the roof, the FM reception is far from decent, compared to any previous vehicle ive owned

there are often slight distortions in the audio, with an occasional slight burst of static for 1/4 of a second or so, on all 4 different FM stations ive tried.

Once i saw the "ST" indicator in the stereo flicker when the static occurred

Speakers etc are fine no problems using cd/bluetooth/inbuilt mp3 player

Have tried removing and replacing the antenna, no difference

Can you get higher gain FM antennas?

Sounds like it could be a loose/poorly fitted aerial connection.

If it is a repeatably fault, I would take it back to the dealer and get them to fix it, they will likely have to take the stereo out and have a look at the connections on the back, (or the loom wiring going into the plug connector)

In "the good old days" TM you would simply pull out the headend and have a look yourself, but - with intergrated dashboards these days, its best left for a dealer to remove,

It is under warranty so stop messing with it and tell the dealer to sort it out ; ).

Mums old hyndai getz has the best reception of any car I have had. Gets loads of LPFM stations miles from where they are, and will frequantly stop on the waikato and the rodney stations when I am in central auckland. Even after changing the headdeck for something not primitavely feature lacking, still great reception. Much better than my falcon got with the same headdeck.

Putting the horrid hyundai one back in as am giving the car to my aunt and primitave is better for old people.

We have a fleet on new Hyundais at work. I have to say they do have some rather odd tuning problems with the radios. Some stations are excellent, while others that should be excellent are marginal at best. Odd. Other brand cars in the fleet are fine.
