I really want to change out the factory stereo (speakers) in my Holden. It sounds like crap but because it has reversing camera etc built into factory head unit. The few shops ive been too dont want to know about it.
Is there anywhere in CHCH that does work on Holdens. Even if I could just get some good speakers put in. Provided factory head unit handles some good power.

Car is a 2013 VE Z series SV6 Commodore.

The VE head unit is linked with pretty much everything. I think the Z Series is the same HU as the Series II vehicles? Not much (if anything) you can do to upgrade the Series II HU. The Series 1 HU can be upgraded if you have a few thousand dollars spare to upgrade it to the Series II unit (ordered from an outfit in Australia). Speakers can be upgraded. Try justcommodores.com.au or one of the other Holden forums for tips!

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

Replacing the speakers should be routine, unless they are a peculiar size/shape.

Any chance the HU has line level audio out and you could add an after market amp and connect the speakers to that?  Simply a matter of figuring out which leads into the HU are speaker leads.

As an act of desperation can you tap into the audio signal prior to the HU internal amp, and use that signal as line in to an aftermarket amp?  Not something I would try but you may have the skills ...

Check they are not a weird impedance also. Most off the shelf car speakers are 4 ohm.

You can also buy converters that change the speaker level outputs into line level. Jaycar sell them.
