My old Merc (VW belonged to another guy)

I recall my father having a Merc with those upright lights. Quite a distinctive look, I think.

It was the car that made me love euros... Way ahead of its time (compared to the US and Aussie-built cars) considering it was 1971, 4 wheel discs, independant suspension, 5 speed...

If you want a real classic 'modern' Merc, try and find a RHD 450 SEL 6.9.

Dad had one and yes, the 6.9 is the engine size in litres (V8). Late 70's/early 80's I think that was. Had pneumatic suspension as well. Went like s**t off a shovel!

Got a 95 740iL, why would I want a merc? tongue-out

You should have got the L7 that went up a few months back

Because you want to trade up in life?

I had a 740; I found it a bit sterile to drive and begging for intercontinental motorway trips I could not make in NZ! It really seemed like a car for throwing the cases in and blatting down to the Riviera for a long weekend, not lumbering over the Rimutakas...! An iL of course requires the chauffeur and the armour plating...!

The massage seats were nice though.

Do you know, now that I think about it, I am not sure I have ever seen a single TVR since I moved to NZ. Probably couldn't make the electrics work long enough to get them here...!!

I'm going to add this as another Dream Car

I know of about 3 TVR's.

Some really tidy ones too.

I think that one is a Plus 4. The 8 seems a bit much for a car like that - best buy the Aero for that!

I just bought his and should have it delivered on Thursday. SP22 Limited.

I don't know about a dream car. I'm not regarded as extravagant so I would feel a bit self conscious driving a Porsche or Ferrari.
