Just an update for everyone. Albany Toyota managed to get it sorted for me. The cable between the lever and the fuel cap came off. This had to be accessed underneath all the carpet and panels from the trunk. It took Toyota 45 minutes to do this for me - at no cost.

Quite happy with their service and the fact that they were happy to take a look at it FOC.

Honda Service, I am quite disappointed at their level of service.

I'm glad it was an easyish fix (for Albany Toyota). But this is simply what should've happened in the first place. If you'd purchased the vehicle from Honda then I'm sure it would've been different. They're under no obligation to do it for free.

Dairyxox: My 2c.
Forget Honda agent, they have no relationship with you, and original warranty is over.

Get it sorted by Toyota Albany, they are who you purchased the car from.

Most 2nd hand dealers offer some kind of warranty on their cars. I've brought two late model imports recently, both had 6 month dealer warranty that would cover this kind of thing. What kind of warranty did Toyota Albany give you when you brought the car? If you're not sure ask them.

Simple as that, in my mind.

This.

The CGA applies to the retailer not the manufacturer.

Anything Honda do would be a matter of good faith and for the reputation of their brand not something they have to comply with.

Albany Toyota are the retailer in this case and as such have to honour any warranty they have offered to you during the purchase as well as their obligations under the CGA.

Perpetually undecided.
