LEAF owners in Auckland, where do you get your LEAF serviced and WOFed? Any recommendations besides GVI ?

The Japanese import Leaf's don't have the 6kW charger, I thought only the UK models did.

Nissan Leaf 6.6 kW charger - Andrew Fixes

Leafs with 6.6kW charger seems to be rare, but they do exist. I didn't look for it, I was just lucky and came across one.

The one with the flat top is the 6.6kW version that I have.

You can go anywhere for a WOF, there is nothing EV specific in it.

I had my initial Leaf service at Bluecar's. They are specialists, and also did my entertainment unit conversion to English, applied an english sticker kit to Japanese labels in the car & removed the audible Japanese toll road messages (and re-mounted my bumper on the AUTECH, which I managed to move / dislodge by driving to quickly through a driveway).

Was planning to have my next leaf service at euopia auto service (they were my local, before they moved, and look after my other car) - My car leaf is at 95,000km, and I am thinking of having the reduction fluid changed, even though it is not due to 160,000km. Might be time to have the break fluid replaced (or at least checked) also.

Thanks, Scott. Yep, my main concern is the service, as I would try and get it done same time as the WOF.

I'd forgotten about Bluecar, I'll give them a call.

I've been looking for one in Japan and have resigned myself to just having to retrofit it later.

There is one, singular car that I know for sure has it, out of all the cars I've seen in the last few weeks at auction. Otherwise it is impossible to tell!

On a side note, EVs Enhanced have been replying to YouTube comments on their video, so all is not quite as quiet as it seems.

Given it is available, it seems much easier to just buy a car with the feature that you want, than to source and install a faster charger yourself.

Bet a wrecker would want good money for a 6.6kW charger (despite it begin a very niche component), and the install involves working with dangerous voltages, and opening the coolant loop (meaning top up or replace coolant would be needed after).

You can see a bunch of Leaf's advertised with faster charges on trademe.

https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/search?search_string=nissan%20leaf%206kW

https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/search?search_string=nissan%20leaf%206.6kW

[edit] - just clicked through a heap of 40kWh leaf trademe listings. Something like 1/4 have bonnet photos, didn't see a single 6.6 charger top in a 40kWh car. Suspect that the same having four such cars is low, so the listings in the top link may be erroneous.

I bought mine from HVS, so might not be an error.

Like I say I've only seen two I know for sure have it that weren't E+ models and I stupidly missed on both of them.

Buying one of the ones on TM would have meant sacrificing other features I wanted to buy for longevity, but on a related note...

I got one! I'm waiting for my invoice now. 2020 40Kw G spec model with the big 9" screen and the rear-USBs from the post-2020 facelift, with just over 11,000km on the clock.

Looking at TM I would have needed to spend another $4K over and above what the total cost for importing this myself, so I've saved $3K allowing for cables and a dash translation; who knows, may even be enough to secure an OBC from overseas if that's actually doable.

So I just need to make that work for two years and should hopefully have a pretty good battery to swap for credit by the time I've saved enough fuel to cover a battery pack from down south, which will also give me a warranty.

Well, I sold the Leaf today. Put it on TradeMe yesterday and had a buyer in 20 minutes. He went to the bank and did the transfer straight away, picked it up this afternoon, registration transferred both ends all done ... Maybe I could've got a bit more for it but TBH the battery is knackered so I wouldn't feel great about trying to get premium dollar for it. Too bad EVs Enhanced weren't able to come up with a battery!

Scratch that, this fell over. The hunt continues.

I think that is a good outcome.

Much better that the car is with somebody with shorter range needs than yourself, and getting used, than sitting around and degrading for the next few years on the chance that a viable battery upgrade comes to the market to suit your range needs.

What happened? Did you win a Japanese auction?

Paperwork being completed with a dealer who also had listed the same unit at auction on a public holiday and managed to sell it for 10% less than what I'd agreed to pay for it, which then had to be honoured.

Probably better I didn't end up buying something from them tbh. I can't imagine that would have been a fun office chat on Tuesday morning.

Update, have secured a 2021 Leaf for less than I was paying for the 2020 G Spec one that I lost out on.

And in the colour I wanted too, which is a bonus.

As an update from me, I purchased a 40kWh Leaf three weeks ago and it has been fantastic. Got all the specs I wanted (mainly colour and Bose) bar one which is that it has the foot hand brake, which is fine, it is just taking time to get use to it. It has extra specs I was not expecting like BBS wheels and leather sport seats. Also, it is in absolute mint condition.

It is very nice to drive and I use the epedal now all the time. I am looking forward to taking it to Tauranga soon as my 91 year old step dad wants a ride in it.

Caravan plug being installed in a weeks’ time and I have used a free fast charger twice to get the hang of things.
