Check if it has CHaDeMO (fast charging) as the angle of the ‘engine bay’ pic is a little skew to be able to see the “3 orange cables” that indicate it has a Dac charge port.

Sellers really need to geek up on what matters to buyers in the EV market and either show the charging bay or list this in the description as it’s a MAJOUR required ‘option’ in our country!

Yes, it has chadmo.

I know as I've just came back from viewing it. Will likely be mine tomorrow, provided I pass the WaF test...

Get SWMBO to take it for a drive (they are sooo much fun in D mode) the show her this (rather optimistic in my case) website for working out how quickly you’ll have ‘saved’ enough on fuel to have paid off the car in ‘savings’ too 😉

Is this legit? Has someone actually managed a software flash for the Leaf CENTER console?

That is Alexey from XANAVI, St Petersburg, Russia. That requires BGA re-soldering and he is changing the on-board chip to protected version - hence no reverse engineering. AFAIK he has not done maps for New Zealand last time we spoke. His main market is Russian West. Official maps from Nissan do cover European part.

Just checked his eBay auction - too much for NZ market. I told them on a few occasions - nobody will buy here AV unit for 1100-1200 USD. There is also another consideration from me personally - how reliable is -BGA re-balling made in a "garage" environment...How long will that last and who is going to warrant that in case of failure?

Will ask in this thread - do you know anyone driving UK imported e-NV200? Box of beer on me if I have a chance to get into it in Auckland for a few minutes with my very special gear :-)

Unidentified Flashing Object: My recently imported 2016 JDM Leaf has a small gadget mounted on the dash close to the windscreen, behind the passenger-side wiper. Visible through the screen, it has three red lights that flash intermittently when the vehicle is garaged and turned off. Please can anyone here explain what this device is, its purpose, and whether it's advisable to remove it (and how) or leave it alone?

Could be a Electronic Toll Collection transponder - many Jap imports have a toll road transponder of some flavour in them on import.

Does it have a credit card size slot in it or does the wiring lead to a box with a credit card sized slot in it?

2 of my cars have come with a little box glued to the windscreen with a wire leading to a unit similar to those in the link above.

It if is one of these ETC units you can pull it out, just make sure to insulate the power supply wire (or better still find and pull the fuse) so it doesn't short out and start fires.

If you start pulling out wires - disconnect TCU at the same time - no use for it in NZ, but just another 12V Battery drainer. And get yourself 12V Battery trickle Charger.

I was converting from Japanese to English few Leafs today at Compliance center in Auckland - one was not accepting charge - the coolprit was flat 12V battery. With external battery attached the process have started.

Does it look like this?  I had wondered if it was something to do with the supposed "Nissan Factory Fitted Alarm" that a window sticker says is in the car.  Someone on Facebook also suggested that it was toll related.

Yes, lowlyworm, it looks exactly like that. Thank you for the picture. Thanks, too, to tripper1000 and RUKi for their responses. I can also report that the device has currently stopped flashing, so I hope it has stopped using 12v battery power and can be safely ignored/left as is.

Interesting report that the UK spec 2018 leaf, will have some differences to the Japan spec'd models

https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/nissan/leaf/first-drives/nissan-leaf-2018-review

"The suspension will be stiffer on the UK car, the e-Pedal smart regenerative braking system gentler, the dashboard more Micra-like, and it won’t get a rear-view camera and display in the rearview mirror. "

"Nissan is tightening up the rack to be more responsive on UK-market vehicles; it’ll take closer to two turns lock-to-lock than the Japanese market’s three."

" Propilot Park - an extension to the Propilot system –........ It’d be brilliant if it wasn’t so timid in its speed. Luckily Nissan will be updating that too"

Sometimes while driving along in my leaf, the music will lower and i'll get a PA from the friendly Japanese voice - but there is no associated lights or symbols or any kind of changes on the dash or screen - so I have no idea what it could be informing me of. Anyone?

I've disconnected the GPS cable to be able to get NZ time, so wondering if it's perhaps telling me about the GPS (Even though I don't have the GPS on the screen at the time).
