Perthman:

7 metres of Motorhome down to $240.91 - that was around $425 a year or three back and the classic, an MGB,  more than happy with $48.75

I thought the pricing was based on safety? I wouldn't have thought an MGB would do too well on that metric compared to a modern car.

I'm trying to remember when I last saw an MGB involved in an accident.  I'm pretty sure it would be long before they were considered a "classic".  I hope Perthman's right and they look at accident stats rather than just count airbags.

Your link in the OP had an error in it, which appended a piece of code to the link resulting in a 404 error. I fixed it at about 15:45.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

it had <strong> added to the end of the ahref url, not what was written on the post itself.

Interesting, $112 for an 07 Ford Focus, would have expected it to be the same as the 07 Axella but maybe they aren't as safe

Ah yes. Of course. It would actually have to start to be in an accident...! wink

Most recent (<10yrs) petrol cars should be sub $100. At $200 it must be diesel, surely?

My AWD 3.5l Diamante is in band 2 at $127.37. Apparently it is not considered a particularly safe car, though it is fairly massive, which should help in a collision with something smaller. It is also known to have fantastic road-holding ability, which I would think ought to count for something.

I suspect you are looking at this years Rego costs, not what it will cost you from 1st July.

What is the car?

Interesting to note that EVs get classed as Diesel for the ACC levy,

( I can understand this as there is an ACC component in the Petrol tax~7c/litre that doesn't exist in diesel [or electricty charges.])

So things like Teslas, Leafs (ves) and i3s pay $99 in ACC fees vs $25 for the safest Petrol burners..
