The greens aren't in government

That's what NZF says, yes, but they don't have a confidence & supply majority without the Greens. That's why several Green party MPs are ministers.

And the GG has seen the coaltion as having the required majority of seats. Otherwise all coalitions will be required to have another election as they are all minority Govts.

It's right there in the quote. Where is the bold, underlined, flashing, fluorescent red, size 48 font style when you need it?

"A minority government, the coalition is reliant on the support of the Green Party". The Green Party is NOT member of the coalition.

Someone said a minority Govt will force a new election. In any case it's irrelevant, L/N/G has a majority of seats. If they wanted to be pedantic they make Greens a coalition partner, problem solved. But there isnt a problem anyway

They couldn't make Greens a coalition partner, NZF wouldn't allow it, the confidence and Supply agreement for the greens was the best they would get and it is good for them.  They get Minister posts, and they get to disagree with things they haven't agreed to in the supply agreement.

And why would a minority Govt require a reelection?

Oooops, thought I’d stumbled into the Politics Forum. Went back a page and found a comment about an EV though, so crisis averted [sarcasm].

AFAICT its all irrelevant. Greens supply seats to help get Labour over the line. As do NZF. Greens are a coailtion partner but they can vote against, NZF is a partner and they can vote against. All that matters is the Government has a majority of seats

Aren't all coalition governments effectively a minority government? No party has a majority to govern on their own therefore they need a partner.

They can get over 50% of the seats by themselves. If that occured, no NZF, and we would still have an EV Feebate scheme going live in 2021

If they have lower running costs, I see no issue there. Lower fuel costs and lower maintenance. Plus less time off road. PR value would be huge IMHO "If it works well for the Police then it should work well for me" that type of thing. There is a lot of "but" around with the masses perception of EV's

Not really, if it was irrelevant why did they take the time to draw up some contracts and sign them?

Police are just one of the agencies, although large one, but could be covered by phev.  The current plan is for when it is practical, so if it isn't practical to replace a patrol car with an EV then they don't have to.
