If you can afford an eTron GT, then wouldn’t your staff have already prepositioned your motor-yacht in the BoI for you?

No, you buy to GTs and fly up on your chopper right?

Discovered this parked in front of my car on return from a morning run around Orewa estuary. Does look nice though possibly a bit overdone stylewise? (Edit. That comment related to the side view. Looks fine viewed from the rear)
No towbar 😁
this 200k car (300k if it has stickers containing letters R and S) is generally regarded as the current best looking EV, won't be for long with so many models to be release
IMO the Porsche is the better looking esp in GT form even without looking further than the VAG group cars.
A reasonable summary of what BEV's are likely to become available in NZ over the next 18 months. Or at least the ones currently known about.

half of those cars will cost 300k

I'm feeling pretty confident that two thirds of what's listed there (Merc, Rolls Royce and Porsche excluded) will cost under $200K and some by some considerable margin.
E.g. the Renault, Cockram Goodcat and the HY/Kia models, which run into badge snobbery and already have premium offers in the $130K area. Can't see them being priced over $150K.

I don't think anybody wan't to go back to the days where cars were built offshore, dismantled, sent to NZ as part's, then reassembled here to reduce tax costs.
I don't think this is what actually happened for the vast majority of cars assembled in New Zealand.
Take a look at this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VUrNWRY7dw
It's pretty typical for the cars assembled in New Zealand at that time. It's pretty obvious the components were made in the country of origin, crated up and sent here for assembly. There is no logic at all for the cars to have been assembled then disassembled. You're not going to weld the body panels together, paint them and fit all the other components only to pull them apart and cut them up for crating and transportation.
That said I don't think there's a case to be made for there to be a car assembly industry here New Zealand in this day and age. Our population/demand is too small and we are too far away from major markets to consider any export opportunities.

I like the idea of Arrival's micro factories, they have one planned for Australia I think but mebe NZ is too small even for one of those.
I see Hyundai has released their new ioniq 6. IMO it is ugly and looks to be a hotchpotch of different car designs. https://www.topgear.com/car-news/electric/new-hyundai-ioniq-6-ev-was-inspired-classic-streamliners
I wasn't a great fan of the look of the ioniq 5, but IMO they could have refined the design of it to make it look better. The ioniq 6 has features of a lot of different cars, and the design is supposed to be very energy efficient. But it just doesn't look right with the proportions. Too much happening in the design. The concept design looks so much better.

To me it looks very ‘Mercedes EQS’ like. With a few small flourishes so they can’t be accused of copying someone else’s work.

The EQS is like a blob compared to the concept version they had for the EQS, which looked like this https://www.wardsauto.com/frankfurt-auto-show/mercedes-benz-previews-future-flagship-ev-vision-eq-s-concept .
I can see a bit of the EQS, but also see some Porsche, Citroen and other 2010s car influences.
In other news, Renault showed its upcoming R5 Electric at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed. To be released in 2024, if the rumoured price of £17,500 ($35K NZD) can be achieved, I'm in!!!
