Where did you get the 9 seconds from for BMW?

BMW AWD with twin motors is 5.6 seconds ($96,900 + ORC). Kia EV6 GT is 5.2 seconds ($112,990 + ORC)

5.2s is for the regular 230kW AWD ev6 (i.e. GT line)

The Kia GT is 3.5s and 430kW.

That is the specs for the petrol X1 version which has a 7 speed steptronic with dual clutch. The electric iX1 version does have one paddle to the left behind the steering wheel labelled 'Boost' which provides extra 30kW of power for 10 seconds for overtaking and fun.

It's their site which is wrong then, was confused when using the BMW builder.

Someone made a really interesting OIA request of NZTA the other day asking for the models of vehicles that have been rebated so far,

https://www.nzta.govt.nz/assets/About-us/docs/oia2-2023/oia-12207-attachment-1.xlsx

Here are the top  10  with the numbers sold the total amount paid out

Make   Model                       Number    Total Rebate Amount

TESLA   MODEL 3                   5,011   $ 43,177,350
TESLA   MODEL Y                   4,651   $ 40,113,750
NISSAN   LEAF                       5,807   $ 21,841,575
MITSUBISHI   ECLIPSE CROSS3,786   $21,675,483
TOYOTA   AQUA                      12,758 $20,501,406
MITSUBISHI   OUTLANDER      4,473   $8,890,561
BYD   ATTO 3                          2,107   $8,125,625
MG   ZS                                  1,995   $17,199,000
HYUNDAI   KONA                     1,584   $11,835,115
TOYOTA   PRIUS                       7,012  $10,710,867

The ATTO3 numbers look wrong. Since this is an EV and would qualify for the full rebate, then $8,125,625/2107 is only $3899.21 unless all the Mevo A3's around the place don't qualify for the rebate?

It's a typo. Total paid should be $18,125,625 according to the NZTA spreadsheet.

On Board Charger (OBC) 7.2 kWh

Really Hyundai. Can you not get the units correct? That would be 7.2 kW. Where's your proof reading?

Maybe, but that's redundant. At 7.2 kW, you'll gain 7.2kWh in an hour

i.e. 7.2 kW x 1 hour = 7.2 kWh.

Only makes sense if they expect you to run it for one hour. Sensibly it would be a charge rate, not total charge.

Got my wall unit installed. Charged a Leaf and an E Tron GT. Pretty happy with everything.

Also got a quote for retrofitting the Leaf with 6KW charging capability, and have a lead on a PDM. Just need to figure out what other parts I need.

If you have a Tesla, do you need a 'smart' wifi enabled wall charger? IOW can you schedule it on the car itself?

You can certainly set a start time, a maximum charge rate and a charge limit % in a Tesla.

That said, the built-in options are relatively limited, needing to select between either the start time or departure time, so no ability to set a defined charging window (eg, to ensure the car only charges within off-peak times).

I've found it easier to solely use a third-party app (in this case Tessie), which provides bespoke options (eg, can set based on day, time, location, charging level etc).

Subsidy scheme to become a victim of its own success:

https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2023/05/major-changes-to-government-s-clean-car-discount-scheme-to-be-announced-newshub-understands.html

So subsidy for low emission ICE cars will go. It is not clear to me if HEV, PHEV and BEV subsidies remain as they are?
