You can keep dancing on the head of a pin, however that does not change the fact that the continuing burning of fossil fuels in the open air is an extremely foolish thing to be doing from multiple perspectives. Here's just one.

 

 

 

 

Don't let perfect be the enemy of good enough. AT least the architects of the scheme started pushing the NZ fleet in a better direction, the current crowd are ignoring science because it is inconveniently interrupting their ideology.

Just needs to be within arm's reach of the car to unlock/open, and inside the car to drive. 

 

 

Really easy to get used to just walking up to the car and getting in. As well as walking off and the car locking by itself.

 

Does the Polestar give a little beep when it locks so you know it has locked itself?

Hmmm I am not sure. It does give me a notification on the phone if the car is unlocked when I walk away. I'll have to have a look for auto locking. 

 

 

 

Edit - yes it can. Just had a look in the settings, the car can lock once in a certain distance away, and automatically unlock when I get close enough too. Nice!

Agreed. I do think they need to move more quickly on making all vehicles pay RUC though as it does distort the incentives towards hybrids which are ultimately a dead end.

It was Labour that started the ball rolling on removing the EV exemption while it was in power, the 2% penetration number was widely accepted as the end of the line for the exemption,

I agree

 

However, I think there's a decent prospect of a significant change at the bottom end of vehicle weights, even though that may not make sense from the point of view of wear on the roads - which is the origin of the RUC concept. 
IMO the idea that a 50cc scooter or a really small light car like a Suzuki Ignis should pay the same RUCs as say a Range Rover Vogue or a behemoth Dodge RAM 1500 ute just wouldn't pass the pub test, even though they're all under the current 3.5 tonnes limit.
I'd expect a new "very light" category with GVM less than a tonne

Old style hybrids and PHEVs? I agree. But these newer PHEV hybrids that have electric only drive (ICE engine only drives a generator, not connected to wheels) are very impressive and have the BEV benefit of no transmission/gearbox along with only ever running the engine at optimal settings. I would consider one of those.

I'm not a fan of hybrids or plug-in-hybrids, but maybe I'd make an exception for the Yangwang U8 (if I were rich enough to afford one).

Reaching out to NZ Peugeot drivers using the MyPeugeot app:

 

Has your Peugeot also lost its internet connection for Peugeot Connected Services?

 

Mine lost it early on May 1 2025. The car says there is no connection (in good coverage area). The dealership will look into it next week.

 

(I was told a while ago by Peugeot NZ that the e-208 is 4G capable. So that should not be the issue.)

 

Anyone else experiencing the car's loss of internet connection?

Yeah, its will likely cause BYD and others to get their pencils out,

Have they said what Battery Tech they are using in the Honda? Is it LFP or NMC?
