I'm up to three Parking Enforcement aka Wilson Parking waived tickets now.

In each case I sent them a cheque for their "loss" - which is typically a couple of dollars. They always return it with a blah blah about me agreeing to their terms and conditions when I drove in, then I write back with a blah blah about not being reasonable to read their fine print then they write back saying they will take me to small claims then I write back saying see you there then they write back saying we'll waive the ticket this time but we won't next time and we usually win in small claims cases.

Same story three times - once for me, once for wife, once for a mate. They are bull*ters and can only recoup their loss from your over-parking.

Of course YMMV and IANAL

Cheers

JohnO

I can't believe how poorly run their business is. Sales rose to $167.7 million from $150 with 2/3 of that coming from parking and they can only make a $12.3 million profit, up from $10 million..

Supply.  Demand.  They can.  They don't have a monopoly.

Arguably there is pubic interest in car-parking being expensive to reduce vehicle trips.

I am not sure how well retailing is doing in Wellington these days, but one reason I used to like shopping in the CBD, was because parking was easy and cheap. Public transport is okay within the city, but the trains are really slow, and stop at every station unless it is an express one, and the station isn't right in the city centre. To drive takes me 20 minutes to get into the CBD, while the train takes nearly an hour each way.

I think they rent a lot of their parking buildings. Probably getting ripped off themselves lol.

Either that or shady accounting practices / paying a "dividend" to HQ.

Lawyers aren't cheap - they should put their prices up!
