Since there seems to be lots of interest here about Electric Vehicles thought I would let you know that 'EV World' New Zealand's first Electric vehicles expo is on this Saturday in Auckland.

Its free entry for the public on Saturday with just about every Electric Car sold new and imported on display with some available for test drives at the Manukau Vodafone event centre.

They are trying to go for the NZ record of more than 200 Electric cars at the event.

(I am not associated with this event, just have an interest in EVs)

I went!

I spent the whole day accident. I thought I'd only be there a couple of hours.

A new NZ record was set: 155 EVs in the same place. The previous record was Christchurch with 100. I was there for that one, too. :-)

It was really great seeing all the e-bikes, electric scooters and various electric cars - both full EV and pluggable hybrids.

One of the highlights for me was the big LDV van with the 56kWh battery......and it can carry cargo or seat up to 11 people. The range is about 150km. The price was to be about $80K. There will be a bigger battery version later next year. That price is a bit high, but factoring no petrol at all, ever....and lower servicing costs....and it isn't as expensive as it seems. Across a 5 years life it would have a much lower running cost.

I'm on a high fibre diet.
