I have a 2010 Nissan 370GT Skyline (DBA-CKV36) with the nav/sound/etc unit built for Japanese use only.

Aircon and ECU interface make this very difficult to replace, but it would be nice to find a way to update the firmware with an English alternative and NZ maps.

A number of Nissan models from around that era look much the same as this but I have no idea how compatible they are.

For previous V35 <2004 model - there was solution, but it required dismantle down to PCB board, de-soldering IC, reflashing with special programmer etc. As usual with all these complex things - if there is one-off case - you would find it difficult for someone to spend their time on resolving that puzzle unless they own similar car and have plenty of time to play with it.

The other thing is "gear" - one can't have enough programmators. Next puzzle would require another expensive tool as your current one may not support that particular chip. I am currently looking at one interesting device, but low demand (only 110 cars registered in NZ and perhaps only 10 of those may wish to be converted) does not justify purchase yet.

Toyota Aqua is the most sold hybrid in Japan. You may expect 5 year old Aqua being imported to New Zealand in big numbers now. There are two speedo in those - some very basic with limited info and more expensive models with color LCD display. Very deep multi layer menu. We have managed to convert that one. Made video will upload soon. Here are just couple of screenshots:

If you have simple speedometer like this:

and wish to swap for the speedometer with LCD in English (as in my previous post) - I can do that for you - I have spare.

Yes I have the simple speedometer as pictured, fitting the part I can do given the dash is all snap together and the cluster is only held in by two bolts (appreciate the offer tho)
The big question I have is has anyone done this before e.g. are the plugs the same (not seen the back on either), does the Aqua computer have the softer capable of driving the LCD display?

Prius Plug-In (PHV) 2012 fresh import. Just finished conversion of Instrument Cluster (aka Speedometer) from Japanese to English. The funniest part was when we were going through menu in English and discovered what looked like NZ scenery with sheep and C02 data. Captured video of full dash disassembly step-by-step. As soon as we edit it - will be available on our Youtube channel. Mark this date as AFAIK we were the first in NZ to convert Prius PHV.

Anyone driving UK imported e-NV200 in Auckland? Box of beer on me if I can put my hands on that one for a few minutes in Auckland. (It will be non-destructive, non-evasive R&D, no soldering involved and and no damage)

Prius Plug-In PHV Japanese Import. Model ZVW-35 starting from 2012. Dealers are now bringing them into NZ

I have managed to convert the dash (aka Instrument Cluster, Speedometer) from Japanese to English.

Just a quick note to @RUKI - damn fine job. I don't own a car which needs conversion, but if I couldn't get a conversion, this would stop me from buying (one of my pet peeves), so you are putting out a great service to the community out there!

If you are in Auckland and have popular car with fancy Japanese Instrument Cluster (i.e. a lot of wording in menu) - no older than 5 years and do not hesitate me putting my hands on it - you are welcome to participate in R&D. Every car is different and I need to see what it's made of and build tools and find solution tailored for that model (different makes and models require different approach, tools and coding).

Right now I am looking for volunteer with NZ New Prius V (hybrid wagon). Need it for about an hour. Gift voucher or box of beer on the house.
