Toyota Aqua - hatchback hybrid have been manufactured in Japan since 2012. It is perhaps the best selling hybrid in Japan with over 1 million sold locally.

Wiki - Toyota Aqua (aka Prius C)

As usual with JDM - after 3, 5, 7 year WOF expire - people change cars and those second hand end up elsewhere including New Zealand.

You could expect huge amount of Aquas to hit NZ market at very affordable price.

Car has 1.5L engine and famous Toyota Hybrid System. Battery has 20 modules (vs 28 in Prius or 34 in Camry or 40 in some Lexus) - easy to fix, easy to test in one go on my High Voltage Hybrid Battery 20-channel Analyser.

I am driving NZ New Prius C (aka Aqua). Actual - <4.1L/100. Turning Radius is so small - you can do U-turn on a very narrow road.

Hatch is big enough for me. Shape is much better vs conventional Prius. Cute car. JDM models have interesting colors not available for NZ new - e.g. yellow.

Top spec Aqua version has LCD Dash with very deep menu, which I have already managed to convert from Japanese to English:

Intend this thread to be for the future Aqua owners, as I expect those to be in thousands in upcoming year

Seen quite a few around the place, and a bright orange one is often parked in the street outside the day-job.

Seems a huge step up from the ugly-as normal priuses.
