Because of its diminutive size, my car (Suzuki Swift) does not come with a spare tyre. What suggestions on alternatives when the day arrives that I get a puncture?

Do you have a Swift Sport? It's the Sport exhaust that's responsible for no spare, other Swifts do have space savers. The Sport should have come with a sealant in a can and maybe a compressor.

The spare in our larger Suzuki has never been out of the boot in nearly 10 years.

Yes its the Sport. I saw a compressor down there, maybe I should investigate further to see if there is a can of sealant as well, thanks.

Tyre shops aren't fans of that sealant and will likely sell you a new tyre if you use it.

Found it! A large plastic bottle with nozzle etc and Japanese instructions, still sealed in original packing. I will put it back where it came from and hope it stays there laughing

Thanks.

No one is, Expect a cleaning fee if the rim is a mess too.
Get a water soluble one.

For an emergency, dosent hurt to have a can but its (IMO) only a temp fix so a new tyre would highly be recommended after you get home tho.

As is the same with a Runflat, They are designed to limp you to the nearest place of repair or safe location. Low speed use only.

I would take a string repair over a sealant any day of the week. I always used them before they were no longer WoF compliant and never had a repair failure.

In exactly the same vein, I discovered that my 8 seater toyota Estima van, because it's 4wd, does not have room for a spare tyre nor a space saver. I am still in shock today. It does have an air compressor and sealant, though it's 10 years old now ....
