It's easy enough to determine chain or belt simply by looking under the bonnet. Post photos of the engine at the accessory belt end and we'll tell you.

OT, I know, but don't you mean "a bit lax"?. I've never heard of lapse used in that context. A quick Google doesn't yield any "a bit lapse" results but given the definition of lapse it could fit. I'm now genuinely intrigued to know whether I've been using it wrong all these years or whether only one or both are acceptable.
