Just bought a Brother multi-function mono laser printer DCP-7065DN from

They are VERY price competitive so would be worth a look if you are shopping for printers. Must be worth looking at for consumables, too.

The cost was $183 incl with free freight. The nearest other price I could see on Pricespy was $223 (not sure about freight).

Ordered mid-day Wed and it was here on Thurs. Proprietor also responded quickly to an online form enquiry.

As an aside, this was to replace a Bro 2140 laser and Canon 8400F scanner. The canon had really run out of OS drivers as it was 9 yrs old. But the new combo is great as I can print to it from all wireless devices incl Android ones. Big plus for networked printers. It goes into a deep sleep mode after a while so it just gets left powered on.

Interestingly, I paid $374 for the scanner, alone, in 2005!! Amazing how we found the money in the 'early days'. (I won't go into the even earlier outrageous prices paid for awful items!!).

It prints from mobile devices, does it need to be wired into a router or pc to do this, or can you just set it up standalone and connect wirelessly from any pc/mobile device?

This model doesn't have a standalone wireless capability. I wasn't concerned about that as it sits next to my switch so I just connected it with an ethernet cable. The wireless devices go via the AP.

Brother do have wireless capable units e.g. the MFC-L2700DW which is $198 + GST. Has fax, too. The DN stands for Duplex Network and DW is Duplex Wireless.
