I'd be looking at 4k for anything over 50" if possible.

Only less if you are sitting quite a way back.

Anybody know the model number of that jb hifi $299 Sony receiver?

Does it come with a mic for speaker calibration?

Could be just the trick to replace my onkyo but it would need to work with my average joe in wall speakers via a real calibration mic process.

When I think of boxing day specials or black Friday specials, I think of at least 20% to 50% off. Now it's just a small 10%-15% if you're lucky. I saw some stuff at DickSmith, Noelleemings and Harvey Normans that had signs saying "HUGE SAVINGS" and their lowered price. I saw the same stuff around similar price at the start of December when shopping for xmas gifts. Now they swap the signs with a higher retail price and lowered price is just under what it originally was.
I'm going to check in to see what the prices will be today (after I get through the traffic/crowd) and I hope they will be lower. Last year they had the same discounts pre-boxing day on boxing day. Was NOT worth the wait for a parking space.

STRDH750 is the model. Look on amazon for reviews, seems to be pretty good. Not sure on the calibration mic though. There is a plug in the front for it so I would assume it comes with one.

Nice. Was so tempted. Am in a small town so was very surprised to see about 10 staff and only 2 customers at 745am this morning. Crazy. Saw the TV but resisted the urge. How were the lines in Auckland this year?

No lines when I turned up about 745AM, got a car park on Queen St right out side

the store was reasonably busy, lots of staff on, got asked if I needed help about 4 times

was in and out in 5 minutes

Feel a bit sorry for those poor NL staffers having to get up so early on a Boxing day to feed our consumerism...

Haha yea. Poor chaps were yawning and getting bored. Tempted to go back for that Sony UHD TV for half price. Must resist! :)

I pulled into the Dunedin NL at 7:40ish and the staff vastly outnumbered the shoppers.  Its kinda off putting with that many eager to sell/bored sales people about.

Picked up the $25 toasted sandwich maker (after picking up the missus from her graveyard shift at the hospital :)

Picked up the Sony UHD 55" for the father-in-law from Noel Leeming. About 7 groups of people waiting at 07:30 am. I think most people didn't realise they would open so early. His Panasonic crapped out 4 days ago so it was perfect timing. I think I am more eager to unbox than he is but I have to go work so it will have to wait until tomorrow.

Cheers, Matt.
