Interesting to hear that they are looking at laws to control online stores trading on xmas day. IMO it does seem a bit wrong for people to be doing online shopping for deals on xmas day.

this law was surely designed to protect employees having to work on holidays.  Can't see how that applies to online.

there are so many cultures that live in NZ now, many who don't celebrate Christian xmas.

I do agree though anything to stop the mass consumerism that Xmas / Boxing day sales etc have become

Essentially it will put NZ retailers at a disadvatange over overseas based one, so I can't ever see it flying. It is these government workers who seem to come up with these ideas, who aren't in touch with reality.

Or they could just forget about that law, retrench whoever had that bright idea, clearly these ideas don't help NZ's waka paddle faster

Less government, more personal responsibility = bliss
