johnr: Smart fuel is a SCAM you can thank the AA for this and increased fuel prices at BP and Caltex

maybe if theyre the only petrol station.  but when theres gull and mobil right next door to a caltex its quite good.  however my local caltex has started charging 2cents more a litre now so savings are the same (easier to use aa card than keep a countdown code though).

however, yesterday gull, mobil and caltex were 1.91, today they are all back to 2.02.  so yeah passing today.

I avoid Caltex in Auckland, the Caltex in Parnell/port is the most expensive in Auckland, proven by the hearld article last year. 10c savings would probably just bring you back on par with other stations and a 4c docket from the supermarket.

Yes I avoid BP and Caltex for fuel but like BP coffee, Mobil on the shore is generally 6 to 8 cents a litre than BP or Caltex

Z is about 4 cents cheaper

On that note, I've been thinking about getting an AA membership, worth it?

In the South Island where is there is no competition, the AA Discount is the best way to save $$ on petrol
So yes the queues will be long, but worth it.

You don't need an AA membership to get the fuel discounts, a AA Smartcard free at caltex petrol stations is all you need. I don't know if you get an extra discount for having an AA membership.

On a different note, did our fortnightly shop at Pak N Save and spent over $200 which qualfied for a 40c off a litre voucher!
