I just bought one for the same price a couple weeks ago, having it delivered through Youshop to NZ.

I think it's a good price considering it's got a bit more grunt than a Chromecast which is marginally cheaper.

yup. I'm having trouble connecting my rokus now, so I have this one as back up which is great,

I hope the app support improves in the future though

Also best thing about it (imo) is you can run XBMC (Kodi) on it as well so this should make my Raspberry PI OpenElec redundant. Though I would like to see how the performance difference is when using high quality skins and playing HD content.

I run the skin aeon nox on the FTV stick and have no problems with it, HD content plays fine but i have mine set to buffer 200mbs before playing.

The fire tv stick as a whole is slightly not as crisp as the FTV box (just lags a little compared to the box) but fine for bedroom tv

I'm also interested in this.  On the current exchange rate, with Youshop shipping, it works out at about $75NZD, which is comparable to the cost of landing a new Raspberry Pi 2 (with case and SD card).  However, if it does Kodi "natively" and easily, and also handles Miracast, then it might be worth a look.

Nathan - in terms of Miracast, does it play nicely with the Surface Pro 3?  I'd looked at something like the Netgear Push2TV but was put off by the fact it didn't reconnect automatically.  If the FireTV Stick lets you easily mirror a display from the SP3, then this might be the deciding factor.

You can do the same thing with a chromecast and Plex.

Curious how the USD 39 stick compares with the USD 99 box? How does dual core vs quad core and 1GB vs 2GB stack up in practice?

Edit - 2GB, not 4GB

Did you sideload the android Youtube.apk app? I am not a fan of the Fire TV youtube apps and can't understand why there isn't a native app.

I read somewhere, that roku 2 is better than fire stick. Any opinions on this?
I'm looking for something that would be able to play from my NAS also. It looks like mirroring or plex server on a computer is the only option?
