Yep, they are just normal sata hd with case. Very easy to get out imho. its the warranty part i would need to work out. I think it would be void.

I thought some of the external drives now excluded the SATA interface and simply went drive -> USB?  So if you remove them from the case, you cannot use them as internal SATA drives.

I have only seen that on slim 2.5" portables, not a 3.5" one yet.

But I wouldnt put it past them. Sucks that they can sell an external for less than an internal which doesnt need a case or poweradapter or USB cable or stupid manuals.

Agree on the Seagate comment. The only drives that seem to fail here at work and home, slowly replacing them.
