Had a look in the paraparaumu store - and im convinced they have put the price up on a load of items and then added a 40% off sticker. some of the cables are more expensive now with discount than they were a few months ago when i as there last! I am not sure who would pay $49 for a standard hdmi cable and dont get me started on the micro usb cables at $29!? walked out in disgust - this is why people have moved to buying stuff online from aliexpress etc.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Dick Smith's performance isn't the reason why people are buying on-line.

Dick Smith's performance is the reason they're closing down.

I'd probably expect to see Turners come up with any remaining stock that they can't ditch as well as the fittings etc (I wonder how many container loads of HDMI cable they imported!).

I can't understand why they didn't just put them on the shelf for $2-5 each during this sale to get rid of them. Not unless there are still people buying them at this sort of price.

Maybe some much better deals about 10 days before they close a store, on bulkier items like the kitchen gear that would be a pita to box up and send to auction?

Well, I saw at their Glenfield store yesterday that Dick Smith had boosted up the original price of a in-house brand optical cable (2M) to $90, to be "discounted" down to 80% off. LOL.

Seriously, good riddance.

Got some 3.5mm to 3.5mm retractibles for $6.00 thought that was good.

Went to buy a rice cooker, thought $59.97 was a good deal, but thought better do a quick google of Briscoes for confirmation - $58.49 yell

That's illegal. Someone should make a complaint to the commerce commission and get them shut down!
