https://www.pbtech.co.nz/promotions/24-birthday-sale?qr=banner_topindex_new_3837

Ok like most I find PBtech sales to usually be a waste of time. But imo this sale is no joke. Some really sharp prices. I particularly like the following.

1. The 14" Asus with Gt940m for $850. Having recently bought the 13" model for $1250 which doesnt have a dedicated GPU I think this is a spectacular buy.

2. Xbox one with forza3 or bf1 for $300, self explanatory

3. Samsung 55" 4k flat or curved  With samsung smart hub, $1399 for either version.

Well done PB !

What is longer term support of Smart Hub like now?

My experience (with an early Smart Hub BD player) was atrocious.  Within a year the OS was bloated and crippled by compulsory updates and content providers had recalled their apps within 2 years.

i originally thought it was an xbox one with those games, but its a xbox one s, so yeah that is a really really good buy.

i'd stick away from samsung smart tvs though, their long term support for their OS is pretty much 2 years then f*** off.  got burnt with their 2013 tvs before.

Personally, I would not be bother with Smart Hub/Smart TV. TV manufecturers pay lip service to service or they simply do not have the economy of scale. Go with Apple TV or Chromecast and you will get much better long term support.

My 4 years old IPad is still receiving the latest IOS whereas the mid range Samsung phone stops receiving update only after 1 year.

Been telling my colleague to buy a new phone for ages now and saw the OnePlus 3T and Nexus for sale. He went in and got sold the OnePlus however was really impressed with their service as the guy went through the pros and cons of each phone to him. Good job PB as I no-longer have to hear him swearing at his phone.

Any thoughts on the MX Master for $79 and MX Anywhere for $69 ? Colour is a bit unusual. Might possibly be a prezzie for the other (female) half, a bit big maybe ?

Crap the MX Master is $79? Do it. I only use these mice now and love them. Very nice to use.

+1 for the MX Master.  I upgraded from the MX Revolution and never regretted it.  Best mouse ever.  I have two, one for home and one for work. Love being able to pair it with multiple devices and switch between them on the fly.

No saving on the g900 which is a shame. Would like another one for the workroom PC. Cant deal with the cheapie that I have on it at the moment with its 5+ mm lift off distance. If only the MX wasnt a single handed design.

G900. The best mouse I've ever used without a doubt. There are some good deals for sure. Pity I've got no money hahaha

I'm tempted by the XBox One as a new Blu Ray player.  My current player won't play Blu Rays (but will play DVDs), and it was too cheap to warrant any kind of CGA claim or repair.  As it's my second BR player in six years, I'm looking for a different approach, and XBox One sounds like a pretty cost-effective way to get a good BR player (plus the benefits of a newish game console).  One question though - is there a way to make it multizone for DVDs?  I have more than few but less than a lot of overseas DVDs, and it would be a (small) hassle if it wasn't possible to unlock multizone on the XBox One.  A quick google search was inconclusive...

i returned an xbox1 with no game for $400 as a xmas present and now im tempted by this offering haha.

yeah the g900 is sweet, shame its not on special. but i guess better to have some genuine savings than maybe a hyped up 5% off items people want and 20% off items nobody wants which is the usual PBtech sale, so i say good on them and happy birthday
