Can cancel immediately after joining, and subscription will be active for the full trial period. So shouldn't be any harm in trying.

I'm using YouTube Red for three months trial iPhone.

Finish's 8th of January for me.

Was using YouTube and you tube music, but after putting it through Bluetooth 5.1 system, and comparing with some Apple Music was going to cancel.

Then discovered google play music applic which could use YouTube red subscription on.
Went and changed quality settings for wifi and downloads to maximum (on normal by default)
And quality a lot better. Video music ones though still go through yt music, but good for non video ones.

Also can set sleep timer if listening while going to sleep.
Think it's just a monthly contract so can cancel anytime and just see rest out, which would be up to three month trial.

I haven't fully made up my mind but now discovered goggle play music applic considering keeping it.

Music downloaded can be played offline. Subscription just got to be active.

There is a google app that you can download that scans your existing music folders and links ownership of songs with your google music account. It scans the files on your hard drive, creates a hash of the music and uploads the hashes to google that then use that (so you are not uploading the full files) to link to your account. Once you have done that, you can make a playlist of your songs, download and then play those offline without a subscription.

Just make sure if you start the trial you put a calendar reminder and cancel it if not interested. Too many people blame the companies for (rightly) starting billing when a simple calendar reminder to cancel a subscrption would avoid unwanted payments being taken out of a credit card.

Or just do what I did with spotify... Sign up, subscribe to 3 months for $0.99, cancel after 5 minutes. Subscription runs out 3/3/18.

I've never used spotify before (I use google play) and will probably delete my account before then, but was worth a shot for 99 cents.

I get both for free, Play Music with Youtube Red, and Spotify with my Spark plan, and I've used both for a fair amount of time.

Both libraries are comparable in size, so you generally don't have to worry about not having your music on one or the other, outside of live concerts that spotify sponsor.

Spotify have the edge when it comes to auto-playlists, and radio, as well as social features (since more people use it).

GPM makes it much easier to just manually upload music to your library. I also prefer the GPM interface, especially the Android app, but that is more down to personal preference.

Spotify has spotify connect which is their killer feature over the others. Playback all controlled server side, unlike casting where if your phone loses wifi then all sorts of weird things start happening.
