scuwp: Never had an issue with the NL price match. Show them a current website with the price and they have agreed every time.

Due diligence is worth gold no matter who you are buying from. Have not seen a retailer yet who isn’t trying to make some deal out to be better than it actually is, or worse outright deceit.

That’s surprise because I’ve had nothing but issues with NL trying to get a price match on multiple occasions.

It all probably depends on the staff member who you get on the day.

I know when I worked at mitre 10 the managers always said make it easy as possible for the customer to get a price match be lenient but some of the staff didn't pay attention to this.

The interesting part is...

Everyone looks at the website / the price in-store and then comments on the price here.

In reality, the price on the website or in-store is merely a starting point from which you can negotiate the deal.

If stores hold their on-line or in-store prices high, then negotiate down in-store, then the customer may believe they're getting a better deal as the store that does advertise a low price has no wiggle room left when the customer tries to get a deal. And really, what do we all want? A deal...

Real, or imagined.

Same here. NL has the Samsung 50" UA50MU6100SXNZ tv for $1064. NL are normally my first port of call but having first said they would do a price match against HN's $898 for the same tv they then changed their mind. Five minutes later I'd paid $898 at HN along with an extra $10 donation for an extra remote. Very impressed with the tv and equally impressed with the HN service.

4k 60fps pass thru

wifi bluetooth, ie can play music (videos even better!) from my windows computer in home network, or iphone, wirelessly!)

It's 50% off - down to $694. Would love to get it but can't win the WAF issue - our current lounge does not lend itself to a home theatre setup... thinking I might have to tide myself over with a soundbar of some sort.

Thanks it's got THD of nearly 1% at one channel driven so it's going to be not very good at all channels driven :(

Yeah but that is at 165 watts, without knowing what it is at a sensible power level for a home theater then it is meaningless. Might be 0.05% down in the 80-90 watt range and great, might still be 1% because its all useless. Specs are a lie, need to listen to know if its any good or not.

I ended up getting a new dyson vacuum.  The clearner told me the other day that the current vacuum head was stuffed.

Went to Noels and they did price match HN on the following so got it $20 cheaper than what the website says.  Tried it out when I got home and need to remember to tell the clearner not to put in onto max as when i tried I could not move it due to the suction being so strong.

I have not really had price matching problems with noels, if they say no then i would just go somewhere else and I make that clear to them.  I find JBhifi really good for returns and price matching.  HN is ok, sometimes they have really good deals (i did get a laptop from them for $800 off the ticket price and the guy said it was way under their cost price as well, never seen it again for the price I paid).

No problem, the old vacuum is also a dyson and about 10 years old, still going strong apart from the head.  But like all things that old trying to get replacement parts (a new head) was an issue.  Just went for a new vacuum due to the price :)
