Looks interesting, i would be keen to find more.

like is it regulated by the NZ govt ? do they have chartered financial advisors?

Also what happens in case the company goes under? - is our money safe?

I think the fact it's now accredited by the NZX is a good indicative of the seriousness of the company. It means they can trade directly in companies instead of funds.

Do you mean signed up before seeing the link? If so, suggest you get in touch with the sharesies team directly and gave them Mauricio's name and link - worked for me.

freitasm: Not that I know.

No, there's no app; they're clear that mobile access is via their website (which works absolutely fine, in practice).

If you want a hassle-free option, there's their relatively new auto-invest pre-sets or DIY options - really saves the issue of having to think about it every fortnight. A word of caution, though - IME the descriptions of the risk associated with a specific DIY auto-investment may be out of whack relative those of their pre-determined options. In my case, my DIY option was clearly lower risk than a comparable pre-set, yet their wording indicated the opposite!

It's worth also noting that they're really quick to get back to any queries, and put time into providing decent answers; more than can be said for many companies these days.

Another thing Sharesies offers is child accounts, if that's something you're interested in.

I've opened a child account. It was quick and painless. I set the age of 21 for her to access the money.

The only thing I don't like about the auto-investment option is that it needs to have funds in the wallet balance. It won't take funds from the credit card - even though they use the credit card for the monthly fee with no problems. I mentioned that on Twitter and they acknowledged.

Other than this I have an auto-payment to my daughter's account every week, and an auto-invest option. This way you can even out/average the investment price over the time.

Wouldn't using a credit card to pay for such investments really amount to an equivalent of a cash withdrawal? I get the monthly fee being able to come off the credit card, as that's a charge for services rendered - quite different from the money for the investment proper.

I too just have an auto transfer from my bank a/c to the Sharesies account set up for the night before the auto investment goes out; the only annoying thing I find is the number of emails I get to inform me that each separate investment within the auto-invest package has been made!
