billgates:

I went down to Mitre 10 at The Base in Hamilton with my work colleague. Pickup the box and it shows advertised price of $349 on the box. Go to counter and request price match. Show them the Bunnings price of $345 and Mitre 10 website and shelf price both being $349. Cashier says our system is showing price of $345 so we cannot match it. Cashier calls store manager and store manager says the system price is accurate price. I mention that your shelf price and your website price are the same. Debate was going no where so I said I do not want to buy it. They then wen around and changed their shelf price stickers to $345.

Went to Mitre10 Mega Albany, brought the kit to the counter, asked them to scan and check price, they said $349, asked if they’d match/beat Bunnings at $345. They agreed no issue. Paid with air points. Total under $300!

M10 Mega Albany are so good with their price promise, Ironically I got a price promise done on a dewalt kit earlier in the year and the lady looked shocked and goes "wow we lose money on this" but still put it through without hesitation 👍

The top one is a pretty good price, although only in white. I know someone who has the black one and they are good in bedroom on a low setting, as you can barely hear them on the lowest settings. Unlike a normal fan where you can't dial it down really low.

I spoke with Mitre 10 customer service manager on the phone after my incident and he was apologetic and said the store should have honoured the $349 advertised price and then beat it by 15%. He said that he can contact the store and get them to honour the price or wait till tomorrow as it will be worth my while and I said I will wait till tomorrow. Looks like it is worth my while. I will go to Bunnings tomorrow and see if they beat it else Te Rapa store the manager confirmed has 57 units of this SKU in stock @$299

Do whatever you want to do man.

Is there normally a site that does a deal on a year's Office 365 subscription? I'm sure I picked up a decent deal this time last year.

Newer DC fans have much better control than traditional AC driven fans and are quieter too. Not needed one since getting aircon but there is an arlec one a friend has which is super quiet and slow on its low speed. Appliances are one thing that I would still look at locally because of voltage issues. Need to hammer the credit card tomorrow online to get orders in before GST so I;m keen to hear about amazon deals on storage and other PC hardware since this is probably the best window to order it in with no GST on checkout, and a $1000 limit when it finally gets to the country.
