I know we have a few DIYers on the forum so someone else may like this deal.

I've been looking for a decent quality job-site / table saw for a while and this Dewalt one is usually well reviewed. Its always been $1,038 on both Mitre 10 and Bunnings for as long as I've been looking.

Mitre 10

This weekend Bunnings has dropped their price to $980. I took this into Mitre 10 and they honoured their price beat by 15% policy without any problems. Final price came to $833 which is a good price for this saw as its never discounted.

Is it much better than the cheaper Makita mlt100?

Is dw745 the same as dw745xe?

Much better than the Makita. More accurate rip fence is the first. The Makita really doesn’t do well in any online reviews I’ve read.

The only model available in NZ in the XE.

The DWE7491 is the heavier-duty version, also available in NZ. There is also the cordless version available. But $833 is a good price for the lightweight saw.

That heavier duty one would be $1396 - 15% currently

I've had the bigger one for a few years - no regrets. Had a cheap one before but was always having trouble keeping the fence parallel. No such problems with the rack and pinion system.

Only question is if you're happy with the 500mm rip capacity of the smaller model?

For the jobs I have in mind the 7491 was always going to be over kill. The 745-XE is perfect for my needs.
