Lego customer support was quick:

Hi Michael,

Thanks for reaching out to us, we're always happy to help.

We're so sorry our website is applying the shipping charges, thanks so much for letting us know about this issue!

We'll be working hard on our end to fix this but in the mean time we've removed the shipping fees manually for you. :)

Also if you still need it, your order number is T37xxxxxxx.

Thanks again for letting us know about this issue and if you have any more questions about your order please let us know.

Have a bricktastic day! :)

Those danes love to keep people happy!

Seen the doccos on working with them? Very cool. It's like google, but with toys.

Really suck if region was based on 'how much will this sting us in free freight costs'. Lots of support from those in the US for us however

Does anything from this endeavour go towards preservation of the Kākāpō or habitat etc?

More tiny plastic pieces just doesn't sit entirely right with me in this context.

That said, I wonder what the take is on bricklink sets to creator.

For normal Lego ideas© ones, they get an NDA so can't tell, but a portion of each sale in a regular cheque. I wouldn't be surprised if it was only .20-$1 each.

Ordered a USA one to shipito and will see if more appear for NZ and if so will see about cancelling that preorder if I can order one to NZ directly.

When I sent my email to Lego to refund the shipping, I supplied my name and phone number on the web form. I've since had two calls from some financial outlet in the UK (different numbers), who also have my name. Bricklink and Lego are the only new places I've signed up for recently.

Anyone else getting these calls, or is it simply coincidence?

What are you paying for shipping in total?

I tried ordering from the US Lego store and having it shipped to a MyUS.com address but Lego cancelled the order with an email: "We’re really sorry, but we’ve had to cancel your order because we couldn’t process it with the shipping address you gave us. To make sure that your details aren’t shared with a third party and your parcel gets to you safely, we don’t send orders placed with freight forwarding or third-party shipping addresses."

My credit card billing address matched my provided US address, so it's probably an address they've black listed as a reshipper.
