Shindig:

I have four Kogan SIM cards I mistakenly bought, thinking I needed to purchase SIMS before reading a SIM is sent out as part of the promo.

So 4 in country in Auckland if anyone needs 1 to 4.

Im keen on 2 sims. Would you be willing to courier these to Wellington region? Happy to pay for costs.

Thanks for the offer. Im actually in Levin, it's still Wellington isn't it? Haha. I'm pretty busy at the moment so I'm going to take up the shipping offer. But cheers anyway. That's awesome.

Has anyone else found RCS messaging uses the Kogan SIM number rather than the ported number?

I have been on chat with Kogan and their solution is to turn off RCS messaging in order to have the ported number show at the recipients end. Brilliant!

I have escalated it to their tech support.

@MikeFly probably best to start a new thread with this problem as it's not related to the promotion.

Ok this worked, from here https://www.1pmobile.com/ask-penny?cprefs=agree&question=Why-does-RCS-show-the-old-SIM-number-after-a-port-or-a-renumber?

Why does RCS show the old SIM number after a port or a renumber?

When you insert a SIM in your phone the phone first reads the mobile number from the SIM, then registers with the network and collects the correct number, if the one on the network is different from the one on the SIM.

In some cases RCS message apps do not do this second check and register your RSC account with the number from the SIM rather than wait for the phone to collect the correct number.

The below steps should reset your Google RCS account to your correct number.

  1. Open Messages, go to Settings (top right, Message Settings), open "Chat Features" or "RCS Chats", verify if this is the correct number or not. If it shows the incorrect one

    1. Head to: https://messages.google.com/disable-chat and you should be able to unregister the number.
    2. Once done, turn off the Chat Features/RCS and the phone.
    3. Wait a few minutes and turn the device back on and re-enable Chat Features/RCS it should let you re-register/update to the correct number.
    4. Alternatively, you can turn Chat Features/RCS off and test SMS after this

Edit: I also cleared Google Messages, cache and memory

Is it worth repeating this as a new thread as well?
