If you switch to BigPipe use the link in my signature to assist me with paying my internet bill and giving yourself $20.00 in the process. Simple. But I've had friends on MR who have switched to other ISP's (Spark, 2degrees, BigPipe, Voyager) and noticed a HUGE improvement in speeds internationally.

I've had experience and say don't switch to MR. Any one of the other ISP's are far better. Have a look at Voyager if you're wanting VoIP too as people have been saying they're very good.

I understand that MR have done some rather large upgrades and their network is once again performing to spec. I could be wrong....but that is what I have read.

yeah my thoughts exactly

however a 24month contract is pretty long, and spark offers a 12month with 10bucksoff (which brings it inline with everybody else's prices LOL)

and spark is spark, don't have many problems other than getting cut off by heavy rain and occasional phone calls.

Sorry myrepublic, but maybe you might see me in 12 months laughing

Thanks guyscool

I'd be waiting until the next set of truenet results come out to confirm that they've actually done something and that it's been effective.

Just what I was about to say. They've been all talk so far (and no real action) from what I've seen around here + what the Truenet results say.

As a MyRepublic customer, don't do it! Speeds have been really bad tonight again, YouTube has been buffering even at 360p. We have been giving them a chance to improve over the past few months but it's a total joke when you can't even stream video at peak times.

could you provide a link to where you read it?

they need to stop spending copious amounts on advertising and spend more money on their network.

they also need a kick up the ass about their advertising and the claims they are making

If you're looking to save money (the only possible reason for switching to MR), then try Voyager. $69 per month for unlimited ADSL/VDSL/Fibre 100 on 24 month contract. Cheaper than MR's 12 month half price/12 month full price deal. Reputable company and decent performance - they have a lot of business customers, so evening congestion isn't much of an issue IME

Aborto: Copied my post from another thread because it is relevant: Just finished switching to Bigpipe from MyRepublic over the weekend and there is a huge improvement. 200/200 plan with both ISPs. I always had good speed to Auckland and Sydney speedtest servers with MyRepublic but everywhere else was terrible. My usenet downloads have gone from 5MBps to 17MBps after the switch, speedtest servers in the US have gone from around 20mbps to well over 100mbps. Fast.com speedtest has gone from about 20mbps to about 140mbps. General streaming and browsing is noticeably faster. The Bigpipe connection is literally 3 to 5 times faster than MyRepublic for all the locations that matter. MyRepublic really needs to sort out their international bandwidth issues. Highly recommend choosing another ISP. Basically My Republic has massive contention on their international bandwidth, if you just run speedtests to Auckland servers it is going to look good, try to do anything useful and it will not give anywhere near what you are paying for.

Thank you for this, I was considering switching from 2D with their half price offer at My Republic, but after reading this there is no chance I will go with them.

Dont do it! I changed to them stupidly without doing proper research and my VDSL connection has more issues than my old ADSL connection. Ping times with them are much higher and I am constantly getting lag and other issues with online games since I have changed.

I am in a 24 month contract BUT am getting ready to argue a case to leave as the service is not of acceptable quality.
