So I'm quite a heavy user. Software developer and university student and rely on a fast fibre connection with a static IP. Lastly the landlord required a phone line so that left only myrepublic as an affordable option.

Ordered their gigabit connection with static IP and voip services. Unfortunately it wasn't me but my partner trying to help so when the sales person said cancel your current contract first then call back, I couldn't tell them no and put the order in first. However the sales person did say transition should go through smoothly with at Max an hour of no internet.

Two months later, spark connection disconnected, no modem and tech support saying connection was set for later this week. We even had tech support confirm it was going to happen on the 25th just two days ago.

I don't generally expect much from isp's since they all tend to promise the world but when I previously switched from apart to bigpipe, it was no where near as bad as this. One tech telling me Wednesday, another saying there is no order put through, another saying a week from now. A tech saying the modem was sent weeks ago while two others saying they will request for the modem to be sent.

Getting a thing or two wrong is one thing, trying to cover that up with lies after lies when talking to someone who has been part of the industry for years is another.

Very disappointed with the service so far

Well if more providers offered static IP's, that would be great. With the requirement of a static IP and phone service, I was left with my republic or stuff. And like hell I was going to go with stuff fibre

BigPipe offer a static IP, So do Vodafone, 2 Degrees, Spark and Orcon who also have Landline services. So I don't see the argument.

I am more curious how you came to that conclusion? Was it a certain broadband suggestion site?

Hmm, I do not trust the $x now and @xyz in x months, Always seem to over pay.
I suppose the Vodafone offering is non desirable and inaccurate now given they no longer can manage domains and emails. 

What is premium support?

Just checked Vodafone and their plans are limited to 900/100 rather than 900/500 (upload important)
And 2degrees has nothing above 100/50 on their mobile site at least? Either way I'm locked into this 24 month contract. Hopefully their speeds are reasonable once connection is sorted

Might pay to check the "My Republic Complains Channel" (AKA geekzone) and see what you are in for.
You could exercise the 30 day cancellation right. I beleive you need to enter an address before it will give you those options.
To be honest the 1gig plans are more bragging rights than any real world usability. If you can show me you using the throughput available i'd be surprised. Anything off network or offshore quickly degrades. 

I am happy on 100/whateveritwas and it seems to work good.

I do a lot of remote work along with syncing with repositories and local cloud storage. I was on 200/200 for a while before receiving a free upgrade to gigabit. I was reasonably happy with 200 up but that was just one heavy user. Multiple heavy users now.

+1 for Voyager - I pay $100 for static IP, unlimited data on VDSL, "unlimited" (hour at a time) national calls and a helpdesk who answer the phone within 3 rings (IME anyway).  Next to no problems with them.

OP says he's a heavy user and Voyager has a fair use policy which could cause him problems. I'd personally go 2degrees with the $10 per month static IP address option if a phone line is a requirement, otherwise Bigpipe with the one off static IP address fee.
