Hi all,

Quick announcement here:

We've just launched our app on selected Panasonic 2014-2015 models. More SmartTVs to come soon and Chromecast is in final stages of testing.

Enjoy the app and do feedback any bugs found or suggested improvements.

That's great news!  Where would we find the list of supported models?  Are the VT60 Plasma TV's supported?

Not an expert, but I think 2013 was the last year Panasonic did plasma.

Boo!!!  I only bought it last month!

Anyways, that's a bummer.  But then again I have an Apple TV and iPad so can use LightBox that way.  Good to see the supported device base expanding.

You are probably right I purchased at the beginning of 2014 as I knew the Plasmas are going to Dodoville sadly. The date of manufacture was probably 2013 :(

Missed again, so an old guy sits and waits, sits and waits forlornly but patient, for he knows at some time support for his Xbox One shall come.

Is it coming on any of the Freeview PVR boxes? I have a DMR-BWT840.

Hi Lightbox.

In April I bought a 2014 Samsung TV and the Lightbox app works fine, as it does on my iPad.

Today I bought a 2015 Samsung TV and there is no Lightbox app and none in the Samsung App Store.

The Helpdesk at Samsung said they were collating customers' reports on this problem.

When will the Lightbox app become available for the new 2015 models?

Thank you.

Although people shouldn't use smart apps as a reason to buy a particular TV, as support for smart tv apps can expire at anytime. Better to use chromecast , apple tv or similar type of box IMO, rather than buy a TV based on its smart features.

But for 'most' people the ease of being able to use an app on their tv is a consideration as they don't have the know-how to use chromecast etc.

It is just as easy to use an app on a device, as a smart TV. I had the same arguement as you, whenSsony started removing the Youtube support  from their TV's, but the fact is that at some stage the app is likely to get removed as technology changes.

plus chromecast requires an additional device to control it.  with an 'on device' app there is no need for anything other than the TV.  you can even use the TV remote too - making it much much easier for the average joe. (and it doesn't take up an extra HDMI port - remember many people don't have home cinema amps with multiple HDMI,  they rely on their TV's 2-3 ports

I agree that you shouldn't use smart apps to buy a specific TV,  but if you already have the TV anyway, it's the simplest way to watch.

Samsung changed their OS for their high end 2015 models, making existing apps unable to run on them. We're currently looking at the tweaks / rebuilds required to support them.
