Re Lightbox warning that Chrome Browser will stop working with Lightbox shortly. I can understand why Chrome have finally removed the old Netscape stuff but do Lightbox have any plans to change their product so that we can product so we can continue to use Chrome?

We are definitely working on it, we'll share more as we get closer to making it available.

Updating this thread - with some good news!

We're trialling a new HTML player exclusively on Google Chrome - if you've watched Lightbox via your browser before you'll probably notice that it looks a little different. The great news is that this player does not use Silverlight, so no more enabling plugins! This player is not 100% supported, so you may notice a minor bug or two - we'd love to hear from you if you do spot anything.

It's best to have the latest version of Google Chrome in order to ensure the best experience while using the HTML player

There is one key thing to be aware of - if you watch Lightbox on the same laptop/desktop, but use a different browser (i.e. watch an episode of Suits on Google Chrome, then later watch Better Call Saul on Mozilla Firefox), you will see 2 devices registered. The new player will be named 'HTML player' and the Silverlight player will register as 'PC/Mac'. If you reach your device limit, simply delete the player you don't wish to use. This is a temporary issue, but in the meantime it's best to stick to one browser for watching Lightbox.

If you're having issues that stop you from enjoying your favourite shows, we'd suggest you try using another browser such as Safari or Firefox. Or try another device.

I have Chrome browser and Lightbox.  The good news is that the problem I (and others) had earlier with juddery motion on Windows 7 systems has gone.  I posted a thread about it at link below.  This new player still has some issues but hopefully when its final it will mean I can use Windows 7 with Chrome again.  My test episode is Breaking Bad season 5 episode 12.  I noticed the volume in playback jumps up and down (around 4.38 and 5.15 are obvious spots).  Also at approx 7:15 in this episode the picture consistently turns to large 'pixelated blocks'.  It does this at the same point consistently (it didnt do this before).  I have Chrome 44.0.2403.157 m. Hopefully this info will improve the new player.

Not sure if it's the new player or not (probably not because I did watch some episodes in IE11 instead of Chrome) but I noticed significant volume differences between episodes watching Black Sails too.

I can't reproduce the issue with the picture at 7:15 - so that eliminates an issue with the content itself. I did experience the volume fluctuation - we'll investigate at our end and see if we can isolate the cause.

Hallelujah this fixes all the stuttering issues I was having on my Win7 pc. I get sound level fluctuations, usually within the first minute of playback, but once it has happened once it doesn't seem to do it again during that show so I can set the volume and not worry about it until I start another episode. So much better than the Silverlight player which rendered Lightbox unwatchable for me.

Lost Girl the intro is always loud then like 1m in it's much quieter, the volume slider seems to have no effect at that point.

Now that I have (finally) got wifi at the new house I am mostly viewing Lightbox through Chromecast via the Android app, however I have used a Windows 10/Chrome PC once, mostly just to check I had everything set up and working properly.

I can't say I've noticed any volume fluctuations (currently watching the first half dozen episodes of Vikings S3) but volume does seem consistently low (via Chrome and the app), but in my experience that seems to be a general Lightbox thing.  I have to crank the volume on the TV up to almost twice the "normal" setting (which I use for Sky, with the decoder volume set to about 80%) to the point where it's scare-the-cats loud if I forget to turn the volume down before switching back to Sky after watching Lightbox.

On an unrelated note, the project for this weekend is to try the Chromecast stick in my AV receiver instead of the TV to see if I can get a better audio experience.

On a Windows 10 laptop, I have the picture stutters a hell of a lot when I try to use the Chrome browser.

Having a few problems at the moment as the Silverlight plug-in isn't working on Firefox. I am also getting occasional problems with IE11; crashes the browser after a 'Display mixed content?' prompt.

Despite this, when I use Lightbox on my Windows 7 desktop, all seems fine.

Any thoughts?

There aren't any global issues that we're aware of, so I'd suggest clearing your cache, and perhaps ensure that you're not running anything CPU-intensive while you're playing content.

Is it related to a specific show/episode?

I wonder whether the Windows 10 'always updating' could be part of it.

I had a lot of problems with one or two episodes of Hannibal, which Lightbox tech guys weren't able to replicate at their end. A problem with the Lightbox 'bookmarks' maybe? Is there a way to clear these?

On the desktop, Firefox seems best, but the plug-in fails every time on the Win10 laptop, even though set to 'always activate'.
Are there any common apps/programmes that cause conflict with Silverlight on Firefox?
Is re-installing Silverlight (again!!!) worth another try?

Typically, if you're having Silverlight issues we'd recommend deleting and re-installing. It is a pain in the butt, but it resolves most issues.

The Sliverlight re-install seems to have done the trick for IE11 and Firefox. Thanks.

Quality still not great with Chrome, but I have two working browsers, so I am happy enough for now.
