I was at the game in Dunedin, don't remember much booing, in fact I hardly noticed sbw was playing at all and was bit dissapointed.

After loosing over and over again, maybe it's just the blues are a crap team.

Not the refs, not the cheating opposition, just a poor team.

TeaLeaf:

After last week fiasco with dirt bag ben smith being offside 3 times and not called and knocking the ball out of the hands forward and 3 other infringements not picked up by the refs, I feel the Blues deserve a break this weekend.

They are gathering momentum culturally, I think Tana has a lot to do with that more than his coaching.

Man Sonny Bill looked hot to trot last week, that line break then the step was back to his NRL early years, sublime. Pitty the idiot he passed to didnt see Duffie and another unmarked player to his right or the game would have gone the blues way even with the ref and Ben Smith. I hate blaming refs, which Im not, the blues should have one that despite not getting the calls, but really that last 20 minuntes it was like the refs had been handed a quick $100k by the highlanders.

Was typical SI Jafa superiority complex by the dunners crowd boooing Sonny Bill (who is a world cup winner for them) as he came on. Quite clearly just the small man syndrome from the sub 85kg whities, whilst every second poster (their mrs) said, Marry Me SBW ! ;-p

Will be good to see how good they really are against a better opposition tonight. Either way Im happy as I like both teams.

After reading this, my eyes and head hurt.

What a contest between the Blues and Hurricanes. Felt the Hurricanes were just going to sneak it, and they did.

The Blues have some excellent moments on attack, but their handling errors really cost them.

Does that guy not get his wealth from "haram" money?

He should give all good money away!

Just watched the replay of canes vs blues on Youtube (it seems there is a semi-official release these days in 720p by the tight five rugby union, lucky for me)

The blues are playing well and are pretty close to winning ways. If they make a couple fewer mistakes or have a couple of key calls go their way, they would be winning these games they are losing by a small margin.

Hopefully they can maintain their energy when they start playing non-NZ teams and rack up a few more wins.

I agree actually. That was the best I've seen them for a number of years. The problem is, I believe, that they are like the Warriors. It's just a trick to get you to be a fan so they can heap another 5 losses on top of you that wish you weren't.

It's a little like when I buy a can of Coke, to remind myself why I don't like Coke.

If the blues drop the show boating over hyped has been and show some balls that no matter who you are you earn your place not get given it, then they will be on their way. But it's too little too late

The problem I have with the warriors is the lack of consistency week to week. It makes them extremely hard to support, it's too frustrating for me. Possibly similarities in terms of unforced errors though (the most frustrating part about the warriors), haven't been watching closely enough this year to know.

Looking back at the blues record this year it appears they have been pretty good, apart from a second week 15 point loss to the chiefs. Complacency after their 56-18 win in the first week could have contributed to that I guess.

They have only lost to NZ teams, and in the games they lost they have been trailing by relatively few points as shown below (in order, losses only)

15 points (chiefs)

4 points (highlanders)

9 points (crusaders)

4 points (highlanders) again

4 points (hurricanes)

Beauden Barrett shows sublime skills and contributed to at least 3 tries, but commits a blatant professional foul right in front of the ref and gets yellow carded! He seems to be playing on instinct, which most of the time is good, however I am now worried he might get caught cheating for the All Blacks in the heat of the moment.
As a Chiefs fan, I am glad I didn't sit up til 1am for the game, because after 21 minutes and 24 points down, I would have turned off the lights and gone to bed. But I recorded it and watched it over breakfast, and in a comeback similar to the first 3 Crusaders game this year, I was happy to continue watching from minute 22 to 80.
Be it in a grafting role, the presence of Sam Cane made a difference.
Hard to feel sorry for the Blues. They have a side full of so much talent, maybe the need to find the team spirit that all the other NZ franchises seem to have.

Crusaders were reasonably fortunate in some regards tonight. They still would have been due a bonus point win but a few of those ref calls in their favour were pretty fortunate.

Funny though, I was saying to my FIL right after half-time, that they had to stop those massive passes. They had the points from them, and should go back to forwards and up the middle (because if the Stormers coaches were worth anything they would tell the wingers to look for an opportunity to pick them off), not 3 seconds after I finish speaking, a big pass, intercepted.

Highlanders also very fortunate with calls. How was that take in the air by Ben Smith not 10 minutes in the bin? So many yellow cards this season for less dangerous than that. I thought a few of those tries were given off the back of what I thought were forward passes.

I have mixed feelings on Scotty Stevensons commentary on the whole, but we were in stitches tonight. All 3 were in fine fettle.

Unfortunately didn't get to see any of the games properly due to a social engagement. Saw snippets though. Pretty obvious which team is top dog now.
After this weekend's matches I am really looking forward to the Crusaders Hurricanes game on 13 May.

I suspect that this game will determine who has home advantage all the way through to the final.

Because he got the ball. (if this is the same incident)

From what I've seen, most of the cards have been where they ref decided the player was not in a realistic position to catch the ball.

It's an unfortunate collision, but players are allowed to contest for the ball in the air. They either get rid of the contest, or accept that sometimes a player will come off second best in a 50/50 challenge.
