itxtme:

Angus Gardner was woeful in the Crusaders vs Canes game.  Granted the better team won with plenty of basic handling errors by the Hurricanes, but the calls meant the Canes missed out on 3 opportunities to put pressure on the Crusaders own 22 with offsides, missed knock on try and the penalty for the hard tackle in the 35th minute was just bizarre!?  I am normally a fan of Angus, but this was a pretty poor game from him.  Do crusaders fans not get sick of Scott Robinson?  I heard the same joke about the closest neighbour being Antarctica 3 separate times, he is a strange character.

Razor is the Man!

He has personality.

Was at the game Friday night, gave him a shout out after half time as he was comming out of the tunnel. He gave me the thumbs up 👍.

Great coach.

I was a little amused to see Brad Weber playing in the game on Saturday night, given the strength of the comments he put on twitter about Israel Folau. I guess he wasn't quite as affronted as he made it seem he was, to play with him. (and no that's not a statement against the chiefs, I'd had made it against any player in any team who wrote the same, and neither is it an endorsement of IF or his comments).

I note Shields did not congratulate the Crusaders post-match.

I guess that's an intended riposte to my comments about Read not saying one positive thing about the Hurricanes when the Crusaders lose to them. That's a lot different than not congratulating them.

I didn't see the post-match but I'd bet he still said something positive about the Crusaders winning the game, e.g. acknowledging that the Crusaders contributed to their win rather than purely focusing on reasons why the Hurricanes lost the game.

So are you suggesting that a professional rugby player not do the job he is paid to do because he disagrees with the beliefs of an opposition player? With the exception of Michael Jones, I struggle to think of any top level player that lets their personal beliefs get in the way of doing the job they are paid for. Admittedly that was in the amateur era so he wasn't getting paid anyway.
And I think you'll find he played against Folau on Saturday.
I'll be really surprised if TJ Perenara (who me-tooed the next day on Twitter) would ask not to play against the Warratahs because of his beliefs either.

I think there are ways to strongly object that don't include comments like the ones made by Brad Weber.  Israel Folau fronted the ARU and was prepared to give up his playing career for his beliefs.

I wasn't suggesting they played for the same team, obviously, but they played Rugby "together" on the same field. Semantics.

My issue was not his objection, more his choice of words whilst doing it.

Ngatai looks good at 12. Shame is is leaving. He's one of the guys I am hoping the Crusaders can nullify along with DM and Alaimano. Messam also had a decent game, I see he is off to France as well.

I'd really like to see Havilii back to his 2017 form. He's been quite a bit less damaging this season. Maybe a slight loss of confidence?

I see England lost to the Barbarians, not sure if there is much to read into that, but Eddie Jones won't be happy I imagine. Indications seem to keep popping up he has been working for the squad too hard and the motivation isn't quite as strong in the team.

Jaguares have won 8 games this season! Crazy!

Dagg has recovered faster than expected and should be back next week.

If you discount the Blues (easy to do), then next weekend's clash between the Chiefs and Crusaders will probably be the first time the home team hasn't prevailed in a local derby. Going by recent form I can't see the Chiefs winning unless the Crusaders have a howler and the Chiefs pull one out of the bag.

Ngatai is playing well and is a case of what could have been. But head injuries are not something to be taken lightly and his time has passed I think. NZ has an embarrassment of riches in the midfield so he must go abroad and seek his fortune while he is healthy.

Every time I predict a result, it's bad for the Crusaders so I am going to say they are going to have a terrible night and get beaten by 100 points by the Chiefs lol. Having said that, it's Wyatt Crocketts 200th game so I imagine there will be a lot of motivation in the team to reward an incredible milestone.

I understand 100% why Ngatai made the decision to leave, it was a very sensible I don't think anyone disagrees. It's hard to know if he would have still been in contention for an AB's spot despite their policy of keeping positions open for injured players.

He is a player I have always liked.

Jared Payne I suspect as Jarryd Hayne is not playing rugby at the moment.

Wow Pete Samu set to play for the Wallabies in a fortnight potentially! I didn't even know the Crusaders had formally released him! It's a bit of a loss for the Crusaders I think.

The "say my name properly" campaign running by Super Rugby would have been much funnier if one of the people saying their name the way it was supposed to, was Ben Smith!

Whetu Douglas Signs for the Crusaders, presumably to fill the gap left by Samu.

I see NZR blocked Samu from being formally selected by ARU for this series, but there is still time for ARU to grease the palms of those required to make it happen.

I have lost interest in Rugby of late and I come from a very keen rugby family having played myself and my son's played as well. I am not sure why I have lost interest, maybe over saturation, poor referees or maybe inevitability it just does not hold my interest anymore.
